00:00 Five men have been arrested for allegedly provoking and threatening to hit a customer
00:06 at a McDonald's outlet in Guantan, Pahang.
00:09 Guantan Police Chief Wan Zahari Wan Busu said a contractor and a trader were arrested yesterday.
00:16 Earlier today, China Press also reported that a car salesman, a bank clerk and an army personnel
00:22 were arrested on Saturday.
00:24 In a statement this evening, Wan Zahari said the five, one of whom has confessed to threatening
00:29 the victim, were being investigated for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal
00:34 Code.
00:35 The charge carries a penalty of two years in jail, a fine or both upon conviction.
00:41 Police launched an investigation after receiving a report from a man who claimed the suspects
00:46 insulted him when he went to the McDonald's outlet with his family on Friday.
00:51 One of them also allegedly threatened to hit the man with a helmet when he was leaving
00:55 the outlet.
00:56 McDonald's became the target of a boycott since its franchisee in Israel, Aloniel, announced
01:02 that it would donate free meals to the Israeli military amid the Gaza War.
