The Kajang Sessions Court on Tuesday (Sept 24) slapped a former babysitter at a childcare center with a 14-month jail sentence for endangering a 17 month-old girl under her care.

Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid meted out the sentence after 24-year-old Nor A'in Ismail maintained her guilty plea.

00:23The offence was committed at the child care centre in Bandar Makota, Cheras, at 4.15pm
00:28on May 28.
00:30She was charged under Section 31, Subsection 1A of the Child Act, 2001, which carries a
00:38maximum fine of 50,000 ringgit or jail, not more than 20 years or both.
00:43Noor Ain, who was eight months pregnant when she was first charged in June, was ordered
00:48to serve her sentence immediately.
00:51The court also imposed a two-year good behaviour bond and ordered the accused to perform 120
00:57hours of community service upon completing her jail sentence.
01:03It was reported that the babysitter had forcefully stuffed food into the child's mouth and also
01:08pulled her hair.
01:10The child's mother lodged a police report after receiving videos and photos of the alleged
01:15incident from a former employee of the centre via WhatsApp.
