00:00 Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office. Let me
00:05 take you through the bigger picture. More clouds and rain arise from the south west
00:09 so another weather system which will bring with it some milder conditions as well. A
00:13 slight ridge across western Scotland and Northern Ireland keeping things a bit quieter through
00:17 Wednesday. The air is a little bit colder here even so in the sunshine not feeling too
00:21 bad with a lighter wind. The rain retreats towards the low countries later on Wednesday
00:26 and then we'll see the cloud break through Wednesday night before more wet and windy
00:29 weather on Thursday in the north. For the time being here's that rain slowly moving
00:34 in. It's patchy across eastern counties, more persistent across Wales and some rain
00:38 also for central and eastern areas of Northern Ireland. This pushes up towards the central
00:42 and southern parts of Scotland. Eastern England also seeing some patchy rain but some higher
00:47 rainfall totals always reserved for northern parts of Wales towards the north west of England.
00:52 To the south it turns a bit murky as showers from the outer Hebrides, inner Hebrides push
00:57 towards Sutherland, Caithness, Orkney and Shetland. More clouds and rain to start the
01:01 day across Aberdeenshire down towards Angus as well. Patchy rain and drizzle. A longshore
01:07 breeze extends towards places such as Edinburgh, Berwick. It's going to feel cold here in Newcastle
01:13 with that wind. Brighter skies to start the day across Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
01:17 The clouds clearing from Murey and Belfast through the first part of the morning. The
01:21 rain will be fairly persistent across northern and western parts of Wales extending towards
01:26 the northern counties of England. But notice through the afternoon this area of clouds
01:30 and rain tends to weaken as it clears towards the North Sea. So perhaps a legacy of clouds
01:37 and some patchy rain towards the end of the day. To the south of that we'll see the cloud
01:41 break allowing temperatures to around 18 Celsius. Feeling warm here and not too bad with a light
01:45 breeze for western Scotland. 12 degrees Celsius, 11 for Belfast as well as Enniskillen. But
01:51 towards the eastern side Aberdeen as well as Edinburgh that onshore breeze keeping temperatures
01:55 around 8 or 9. Here's that cloud and wind and rain on Thursday for the northern half
02:00 of the UK. Hanging on to milder conditions further south throughout the day. Into Friday
02:05 though that cold air slowly sinks down towards more southeastern areas with showers to follow.
02:11 So let's backtrack to Wednesday evening. You can see the clouds and some patchy rain and
02:15 drizzle. Still an onshore breeze coming down towards eastern counties of England. Now across
02:20 Scotland and Northern Ireland it's a chilly night even with a touch of local frost before
02:24 the cloud thickens from the west. And we'll see that cloud and rain slowly extend across
02:29 from the Atlantic. So yet again a wet and windy start to the day for Northern Ireland
02:34 and also strong winds for western Scotland with some outbreaks of rain. Elsewhere it's
02:38 a quiet start. We'll see some lower temperatures for Aberdeen down towards Dundee. Cloud and
02:44 perhaps even the spot of rain here but dry conditions for England and Wales. So the main
02:49 frontal activity will be across more northern and western parts of Scotland. Heavier rain
02:54 here across western Scotland with strong winds gusts perhaps 50-55 miles an hour. The rain
02:59 does just push down towards north Wales through the morning into the afternoon so some patchy
03:03 rain and that sort of extends filaments towards eastern counties as far south perhaps as Lincolnshire.
03:10 But to the south of that we'll see the cloud break, some warm weather coming through as
03:14 the sun comes through as well. So 16-18 degrees celsius. A cold wind towards the far north
03:20 west, a wind which will be relentless with further showers moving in through Thursday
03:24 evening and overnight. And into Friday most places seeing sunshine and showers and feeling
03:30 a little bit colder everywhere. Bye bye.
