00:01:07 There is a blessing on the line today.
00:01:10 So it would do us good maybe sometime this week to go back and read all of those things
00:01:15 because there's a whole lot that was just said.
00:01:17 How many times have I told you, you got to read the Bible word by word and not verse
00:01:21 by verse.
00:01:22 And you'll find a whole lot of things in there that are prerequisites to the blessing.
00:01:28 So make sure that that we do that.
00:01:30 Go to second Corinthians chapter 13.
00:01:34 Very familiar passage of scripture.
00:01:40 Second Corinthians chapter 13.
00:01:45 And we're going to read beginning at the fourth verse.
00:01:51 The Bible says love suffers long.
00:01:57 You know, let me just stop right here.
00:01:59 Bishop and I were up here with, with all the rest of you that came to our marriage enrichment
00:02:04 day and we were at the vow renewal part of our ceremony up here.
00:02:12 All of us were.
00:02:14 And what is that?
00:02:15 What is that line that says, uh, suffer something about suffer?
00:02:23 What is it?
00:02:24 You don't know your wedding vow.
00:02:26 Somebody tell me what that is.
00:02:29 Look, I know why I forgot it.
00:02:36 I don't know why y'all forgot it.
00:02:39 It's a forbidden.
00:02:42 I'm sorry.
00:02:43 That's my fault for better or worse.
00:02:47 And you do suffer when things get worse.
00:02:50 But I looked at him and they said, repeat for better or worse.
00:02:55 And I went for better and how much worse.
00:02:59 Because that's what people do today.
00:03:01 They're like, I can go so far with you, but you better tell me how much worse this is
00:03:05 going to get.
00:03:08 This right here says in 13 and eight, it says this love suffers along.
00:03:20 It's kind.
00:03:22 It doesn't envy.
00:03:24 Love does not parade itself.
00:03:28 Love is not puffed up.
00:03:32 It does not behave rudely.
00:03:38 It does not seek its own.
00:03:42 It's not provoked.
00:03:45 It thinks no evil.
00:03:47 It does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.
00:03:52 It bears all things.
00:03:55 It believes all things.
00:03:58 It hopes all things.
00:04:01 And it endures all things.
00:04:05 And love never fails.
00:04:08 But whether there are prophecies, your prophecy may fail.
00:04:15 Whether there are tongues, they will cease.
00:04:18 Whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
00:04:22 So we know in part and we prophesy in part.
00:04:28 Love never fails.
00:04:30 I want to talk about family love.
00:04:35 I've been telling you the beginning of the year toward the end of last year, God began
00:04:39 to talk to me about the outcome of 2024.
00:04:43 And he said, this is what I want to, I want to expect from this church.
00:04:48 I want strong men raised up in this church.
00:04:51 I want strong families raised up in this church.
00:04:54 How many of you know, we're on our way to making that happen?
00:04:59 Strong families.
00:05:00 You are not going to have to go into 2025 like you came out of 2024.
00:05:08 You are going in with the victory.
00:05:10 I mean, I'm talking about a real victory.
00:05:14 Look at somebody and tell them we're going to be in a different place because we're going
00:05:19 to do it together, together, together, together.
00:05:22 That's what a family's love is.
00:05:24 Father, today, I thank you for your word.
00:05:27 Speak like only you can do.
00:05:30 You know, every situation, you know, every person, every heart, every wrestling that's
00:05:37 going on in every mind.
00:05:39 But today I just believe that your word can find every last one of us.
00:05:45 Speak to us today.
00:05:46 Those that are in the building, those that are in the overflow, those that are watching
00:05:49 online, talk in this place.
00:05:52 And we will leave here richer and better and wiser than we can.
00:05:59 We ask you to do it now in Jesus name.

00:06:04 On your way down, hit somebody good and tough and tell him it's a love thing.
00:06:13 It's a love thing.
00:06:17 I was talking to somebody earlier this week and we were talking about our kids and I was
00:06:24 talking about my girls and how when Lana first learned to drive and that was bad, that was
00:06:30 bad enough for me to have to watch her get into a car and drive out onto the road.
00:06:37 What really made it worse was when all three of them got in the car that Lana was driving
00:06:46 on these back country roads in West Virginia and I watched her drive out with three pieces
00:06:56 of my heart and it was a little nerve wracking.
00:07:01 We didn't have cell phones back then.
00:07:05 And so I gave them a little beeper and they knew if that beeper ever went off, you better
00:07:11 find a safe place and pick up a phone and call and tell me where you are.
00:07:17 We had an agreement that whenever they left the house, there was only a certain path that
00:07:22 they could go.
00:07:24 I needed to know the road that they were taking because if they didn't respond to the beep
00:07:30 or if they never called me to let me know that they got there, then I would get in my
00:07:35 car and I would follow the path that I told them to go.
00:07:41 I could do that because I know the way that they were taking.
00:07:46 The Bible tells us, it says that he knows the way that we take.
00:07:53 Sometimes I've said that I've read that over and over and thought, God, I'm so glad you
00:07:58 know because I don't have a clue where I am at right now.
00:08:03 But he knows the way that I take.
00:08:06 I was that kind of mom.
00:08:09 I had to find my kids at all times.
00:08:14 And that ain't a bad thing because I know where they're all at today.
00:08:18 And I'm grateful for the grace of God and a good dad and good Christian leadership in
00:08:24 their lives that they're still here praising and serving God.
00:08:30 So I fly quite often and before our plane takes off, the pilot has to do something that
00:08:42 is called filing a flight plan.
00:08:46 Any pilots in here?
00:08:47 I mean, any, any pilots in this room?
00:08:54 Where they at?
00:08:55 Hello, Cam.
00:08:56 You are.
00:08:57 Okay.
00:08:58 So whenever you get ready to take off or go somewhere, if you fix my mic a little bit,
00:09:03 it's pretty dry and aggravating me.
00:09:06 But if you, if you get ready to fly, the pilot has to fly, has to file a flight plan.
00:09:13 And if you've noticed, sometimes when you, when you get ready to take off, the pilot
00:09:17 will come on and he'll say, yes, we are leaving Dallas.
00:09:21 We're going, we're going toward Atlanta.
00:09:23 We will be passing over all of the cities.
00:09:27 Have you ever noticed that they tell you what the reason they know that is because
00:09:31 they have a flight plan.
00:09:34 And so when it is time for us to depart, they are supposed to move in accordance with the
00:09:42 plan that they have filed.
00:09:46 However, during the course of the flight, sometimes the plane itself will come up against
00:09:54 turbulence.
00:09:56 It comes up against wind.
00:09:58 It comes up against rain.
00:10:01 And occasionally those, those, those three things right there and probably many more,
00:10:09 even though they're just minor deviations, sometimes they will cause the plane to deviate
00:10:16 from the flight path.
00:10:19 And when a weather system moves in, if you meet a weather system head on, it's possible
00:10:26 that it could deviate your plan even a little greater.
00:10:31 However, most of the time, and thank you Jesus for this, most of the time, your plane will
00:10:37 arrive at its destination.
00:10:40 And the reason it gets there is because in spite of the deviations, there are pilots
00:10:47 who are sitting in their seat with their headphones on and they are getting feedback as to where
00:10:53 they are and as to what is happening.
00:10:57 Control towers are talking to your pilot.
00:11:02 Instrument panels are talking to them.
00:11:05 Other pilots in other planes are also talking to them and based on the feedback, they are
00:11:13 continually making the necessary adjustments along the way to set themselves back in to
00:11:22 the flight plan.
00:11:24 Y'all following me today?
00:11:25 Look at somebody, tell him, get back on track.
00:11:30 If you don't get back on track, you're going to end up going somewhere you never intended
00:11:35 to go.
00:11:36 So the flight plan of the airplane is a perfect metaphor for family life.
00:11:47 When you have a flight plan and when you have the ability to open up to feedback, it's quiet
00:11:56 in here, but when you have the ability to pull your kids into a room and say, "Hey,
00:12:05 tell me about this decision that I make.
00:12:07 I really want, I made, I want to know what you think about it."
00:12:12 That's like a scary moment because you will be so proud of your decision and they will
00:12:18 be like, "Well, honest dad, this is what I think."
00:12:23 Sometimes if your ego is a little out there, it could hurt your heart.
00:12:29 But if you have the ability to open up to feedback, no matter how messed up, no matter
00:12:37 how off course that you might feel like you are on your flight, you can still get to where
00:12:45 you are going.
00:12:46 The key to having a successful flight or a successful family is having a marked destination,
00:12:55 having a flight plan, and also having a compass.
00:13:00 So to stay on track where your family is concerned, you're going to have to know where you are
00:13:09 going.
00:13:10 Your family is not an accident that you can just sit around and just, "Well, let's just
00:13:16 wait and see what happens."
00:13:18 That ain't gonna work well for you.
00:13:21 I said it's not gonna work well for you.
00:13:23 So you have to bring everything to the table and you have to be able to say, "This is where
00:13:30 we're going.
00:13:31 This is what we are doing."
00:13:33 And it wouldn't hurt.
00:13:36 We didn't necessarily do it.
00:13:38 We were always in ministry, traveling, doing our mission, but it would do your family good
00:13:45 to have a mission statement that says, "Hi, we are the Nehdu family and we are, this is
00:13:56 where we're at.
00:13:57 We expect to be here in two years.
00:14:00 We expect to be there in five years.
00:14:04 And in 10 years from now, we expect all of us to still love one another, to be at the
00:14:10 table and to be working in the kingdom of God."
00:14:15 Okay y'all don't like that right now.
00:14:17 Get your pen and paper out and start your mission.
00:14:22 So we need that.
00:14:25 We need to know, our kids need to know, why do we exist as a family?
00:14:31 How did this happen?
00:14:34 Is there a purpose behind this?
00:14:36 Is there a reason that I am not only a preacher, but my dad was a preacher and my grandfather
00:14:44 was a preacher before my dad was a preacher and my great great grandfather was a preacher?
00:14:52 Is this not the exceeding goodness of God?
00:14:57 He reached in my great great grandfather, pulled out my great grandfather, pulled out
00:15:02 my grandfather, pulled out my father, reached into my father and pulled out me and I pulled
00:15:09 out with the help of a bishop who came out of his grandfather that was a preacher or
00:15:14 his father that was a preacher.
00:15:17 Sometimes you just have to look through your history and you will find clues as to what
00:15:22 God has called you to do.
00:15:25 You don't have to live your life without purpose.
00:15:28 You don't have to live your life without meaning.
00:15:32 Sometimes if you look close, now just because they were all preachers does not automatically
00:15:38 make me a preacher.
00:15:41 Sometimes that's a mess because they think that because you came from them, you got to
00:15:47 carry the gospel of Jesus Christ.
00:15:49 Well, I will carry it, but I'm going to carry it right to work.
00:15:52 I'm going to carry it right to my desk.
00:15:58 So you got to look at it and you got to know you have to make you, you, you have to make
00:16:03 your calling and your election sure because anything that you do outside of the purpose
00:16:09 of God, when you stand before him, if it's not what he has called you to do or purpose
00:16:15 you to do, your works are going to go up before him in wood, in as hay and as stubble and
00:16:22 you will stand before God empty handed cause you are trying to be a pastor and he never
00:16:27 called you to be a pastor.
00:16:29 He called you to be a doctor.
00:16:34 That's good preaching pastor Brady.
00:16:37 So you have to know why, why did, why did, why did our people survive the things that
00:16:44 they survived?
00:16:45 Think about it today is we are selling, celebrating black history, but think about how did your
00:16:52 family and the family that you knew in the family that you never have met, how did they
00:16:58 survive?
00:16:59 How did they come out of it?
00:17:03 How we need to know our family.
00:17:07 We need to know about the faith of our family.
00:17:11 I learned that my grandmother was a real praying woman.
00:17:15 She had been diagnosed with tuberculosis and this was so many years and years and years
00:17:20 ago there was nothing that they could do for her.
00:17:23 It was at the point where they had given her up to die.
00:17:26 But when my mama came home from school, they lived in a holler.
00:17:29 Y'all know what a holler is?
00:17:31 They live up, up way up in the hills and that the school bus dropped my mama off at the
00:17:36 house and I'm sure my mama just thought she was going to walk in and find her mama very,
00:17:41 very sick.
00:17:42 But when she pulled up, she said, my grandmother, when they let her off the school bus, everybody
00:17:48 on the school bus could hear my grandmother praying.
00:17:51 She was on the front porch.
00:17:54 She had walked out onto the front porch and started praying and calling on God and said,
00:18:01 God, I know you're able, I know who you are.
00:18:05 There's nothing that's too hard for you.
00:18:07 You can move this mountain.
00:18:09 You can get this sickness out of my body.
00:18:12 It's not your will for my life.
00:18:15 I mean to tell you, she was, she lit that front porch up and my mama said, when I got
00:18:20 to the porch from the school bus, I just, I just stood there and I was watching her
00:18:26 pray and the, and when she got over to the right, mama said, I just jumped up and ran
00:18:32 straight in the house and shut the door because I had found a path in.
00:18:37 But my grandmother, let's make a long story short and tell you, she lived years and years
00:18:43 and years and years and years after that.
00:18:47 Why?
00:18:48 Because she knew God was a healer.
00:18:52 So I have to look back at that and I have to say, how did y'all stay together?
00:18:57 I come from a line of marriages that made it and I have to look back because the challenges
00:19:04 are different today, but I have to look back and say, how did y'all make it?
00:19:09 How did you last?
00:19:10 And people look at me and Bishop and say, how have y'all been married for 46 years?
00:19:15 Well, we, we, we, we were after the same thing.
00:19:19 When we got married, we were young.
00:19:21 We didn't really know it, but thank God for covering us.
00:19:24 But we both were after something that was called destiny and our destiny was going in
00:19:29 the same direction.
00:19:30 I did not marry him because he was cute.
00:19:32 He did not marry me because I was cute.
00:19:35 When we got married, our marriage was blessed of God because we were both after the things
00:19:41 of God.
00:19:42 We were silly.
00:19:43 We were crazy.
00:19:44 We were young, but our heart was after the pains of God.
00:19:51 So we have to know what is the vision for your family?
00:19:55 What do you want to see in five years?
00:19:57 How about what do you want to see in 2025?
00:20:01 How about what do you want to see six months into 2024?
00:20:06 You speak this into your house, speak it into your children.
00:20:11 And as you speak that and it begins to manifest faith, come at by and hearing comes by.
00:20:20 So the vision of your family has got to be clear.
00:20:25 The vision of a more effective family, remember this, it might just start with you and everybody
00:20:33 else ain't on board.
00:20:35 Like Joseph, guys, I had a dream.
00:20:38 You know how Joseph's brothers did him?
00:20:41 Not this Joseph, I'm talking about Joseph in the Bible.
00:20:45 He told them his dream.
00:20:47 He told them what God had given them to do or given him to do.
00:20:51 And they laughed at him and they mocked him and they hated him and they despised him and
00:20:55 they ultimately thought they got rid of him because everybody don't believe in your dream.
00:21:01 But for the most part, you've got to find a way to help your family understand the dream.
00:21:08 And the way, one of the best ways you can do it is to help them to understand that they
00:21:14 are part of it.
00:21:16 It is not complete if you don't do your part.
00:21:19 So we need you doing your, you are involved in this.
00:21:23 This is not something I'm dreaming up and I'm going to walk away and leave you.
00:21:28 And if you don't come, well, you don't come.
00:21:30 No, you are part of this dream.
00:21:34 They need to help form the dream.
00:21:37 It's much like a jigsaw puzzle.
00:21:39 Have you ever saw a thousand piece puzzle and it's laying on the table and everybody
00:21:45 in the family, they walk by and they try to look at, pick up a piece here and somebody
00:21:49 picks up a piece over there.
00:21:52 Everybody tries to work the puzzle, but it is much easier if we have a picture of the
00:21:57 final scene.
00:21:58 So you leave the box cover right there where everybody can see it.
00:22:03 Why?
00:22:04 It's because you know, you're not the only one doing it, but when you see the full picture,
00:22:10 it helps people.
00:22:11 If it's an orange piece of puzzle and everything right here is purple, then you know that this
00:22:17 orange piece of puzzle does not go right there.
00:22:20 So don't be over there trying to beat it and try to twist it and trying to make it
00:22:25 go there because it does not fit.
00:22:29 Look at the final picture.
00:22:30 That's all I'm saying.
00:22:31 Have you got a picture that your family can look at that says, if I keep doing this and
00:22:39 if I keep doing that, this final picture is not going to look like they told me that it
00:22:45 had to look.
00:22:47 So without a shared vision, the results can become chaotic because of us trying to make
00:22:53 a forest fit.
00:22:55 So the idea is to create a vision, communicate that vision to your family, consistently adjust
00:23:04 your self to the flight plan or to the vision, and then you can arrive at your destination.
00:23:13 Not only do you need a destination, but you, and not only do you need a flight plan, but
00:23:20 you're also going to need a compass.
00:23:23 Somebody say compass.
00:23:24 There's so many definitions for the word compass, so I'm going to cut to the chase.
00:23:28 A compass in short is a tool that helps you find direction.
00:23:35 It is, it is what the Holy ghost is to us.
00:23:39 It is the inner guidance that we have.
00:23:43 You know, you know that thing that's inside of you that when you get ready to do something
00:23:47 and you're like, God, I don't know if that's you or if that's not you and you lean in just
00:23:52 a little bit more and then all of a sudden your Holy ghost kicks in and says, not today.
00:23:58 Don't do it today.
00:23:59 Don't buy it today.
00:24:00 Don't sell it today.
00:24:01 Don't take that.
00:24:02 Don't settle for that.
00:24:03 It's the Holy ghost inside of us that what does it say?
00:24:07 He will lead us and he will guide us into all truth.
00:24:11 Is there anybody in here that has the Holy ghost that leads you and guides you?
00:24:16 Somebody ought to make some noise because you could have made the worst mistake of your
00:24:20 life.
00:24:21 I said, you could have made the worst mistake of your life, but the Holy spirit that is
00:24:26 down inside and the more you tune your ear to listen to him, the more clear he becomes
00:24:33 in your hearing and it will help us.
00:24:38 He will be there to help us and to guide us because here's what I want to say.
00:24:43 He knows where you are.
00:24:45 He also knows where you're going and he will point you into the direction of where you
00:24:50 are headed.
00:24:51 You will walk past a group of people and you might smile, but you're going to keep on walking
00:24:56 because your Holy ghost says, ah, you ain't got time to get in all of that.
00:25:01 And none of that right there belongs to you.
00:25:03 Keep walking.
00:25:04 Take two more steps and when you get there, something will leap inside of you.
00:25:09 Like G like John began to leap inside of Elizabeth when Jesus came into the room.
00:25:16 Why?
00:25:17 Because there was a destiny connection and it was imperative that the two of them meet.
00:25:23 So the spirit of God will help us.
00:25:26 It'll help us get our bearings.
00:25:27 It'll help us know what class to take.
00:25:30 It'll help us know when it's time to get out of that.
00:25:33 It'll help us to understand this is my position.
00:25:36 It will help you with your aim so that when you aim at something, you don't continuously
00:25:41 miss it.
00:25:42 You will ultimately hit it because God is in you showing you which way to go.
00:25:49 However, in order for that to happen effectively, we have got to move from a, a me mentality
00:26:00 to an us mentality.
00:26:04 Somebody look at your neighbor and say from me to us, we have to move from a, from an
00:26:12 independent type mentality to an interdependence mentality.
00:26:20 Now that's not going to go over real well and I didn't expect it to go over real well
00:26:24 because the American culture, it places a huge priority on our individual freedom, our
00:26:33 self efficiency and, and I like control and that's great.
00:26:39 I like all of those things, but we cannot allow that to drive us in every area of our
00:26:47 life.
00:26:48 See, to me, there is nothing that's any more beautiful than seeing an interdependent family,
00:26:56 a family that says we genuinely love one another, a family that needs one another, a family
00:27:04 that fights for one another, a family that has moved from me to a we culture, a we culture
00:27:13 reflects a family's movements.
00:27:16 I can tell what kind of culture they have by watching the family's movements and it's,
00:27:22 it's the kind of culture that says, if you are bullying my baby sister, I'm going to
00:27:29 show up and I'm going to walk to class with her because I want you to know you have bullied
00:27:34 the wrong one baby because she might look little, she might look like she's all by herself,
00:27:40 but you better always remember when you see her, you need to see me.
00:27:48 Are y'all following me today?
00:27:50 And you might, you, you might, and you might think you can handle her, but then you got
00:27:57 to deal with me.
00:27:58 And if this ain't enough for you, there's somebody that's behind me because we don't
00:28:03 play with this kind of stuff right here.
00:28:09 It's a, we culture.
00:28:10 It's an, it's an us culture.
00:28:13 And if you got, what does that mean?
00:28:15 That means if you've got a problem, I got one too.
00:28:18 That means together we have the power to solve the very thing that is trying to take you
00:28:23 out.
00:28:24 It is the kind of culture that says, I'm here to help.
00:28:28 I'm here to pick up where you're dropping things.
00:28:31 I'm here to help you get through.
00:28:33 It's an enabling kind of culture.
00:28:35 It enables us to work together.
00:28:37 It's the grace of God.
00:28:39 It enables us to set a goal and together we move toward that goal and we seize every opportunity
00:28:47 along the way to get there.
00:28:50 It's how we deal with force, force forces that are so powerful and they would love to
00:28:59 get us off track.
00:29:00 And if they catch you on a weekday, a bad day, a day that you feel a little under it,
00:29:07 you might just go ahead and subject yourself to that win.
00:29:11 But there's somebody over here that has not today, not today.
00:29:15 You won't do it today.
00:29:16 Come on, get up, encourage yourself.
00:29:17 Everything is going to be all right.
00:29:18 If you ain't got it, I got it for us.
00:29:19 Cause we are family.
00:29:20 Hit somebody and tell him, and that's how we roll.
00:29:31 We're family.
00:29:34 That's what makes me call your name out.
00:29:38 When I'm in prayer, I ain't heard from you, but something in me makes me call your name
00:29:42 out.
00:29:43 Almost every time that happens with me and my sister, I pick up the phone and I call
00:29:47 her or send her a text and I'm saying, are y'all right?
00:29:50 And usually she could use the prayers that I am praying.
00:29:54 Why?
00:29:55 Because we are family and she might live in Arkansas and I might live in Texas, but my
00:29:59 spirit knows that somebody I love is in trouble.
00:30:06 Anybody know what I'm talking about today?
00:30:10 I feel a week culture says, I feel your pain.
00:30:14 I carry your burden and I'm going to stand here and cheer you all the way across the
00:30:20 finish line, whether I make it or whether you make it, it doesn't really matter because
00:30:27 either way, both of us have made it.
00:30:29 Why?
00:30:30 Because we are a week culture.
00:30:33 Why?
00:30:34 Because we are family.
00:30:36 Why?
00:30:37 Because we are a team and the family that prays together.
00:30:42 They told us this years ago, the family that prays together, what stays together.

01:01:09 Everything revolves around family because God established
01:01:16 the family before he ever established the church.
01:01:21 And you're looking at one preacher today
01:01:25 who will tell you, "I may not always have a church,
01:01:31 but I will do everything in my power to have a family."
01:01:40 Because a family is a picture of the church.
01:01:46 We don't all look alike. We don't act alike.
01:01:49 We don't think alike.
01:01:51 But tell somebody we are a family.
01:01:56 Let me close with this.
01:01:59 One of the worst curses in the Old Testament
01:02:04 that could be put on anybody
01:02:07 was to be put out of the family.
01:02:10 The Bible tells us--Paul talks to us and tells us,
01:02:16 "If you try to restore somebody and they won't repent,
01:02:22 put them out."
01:02:24 If someone comes in and they try to sow discord,
01:02:28 Paul said, "Put them out.
01:02:31 Don't eat with them. Don't break bread with them.
01:02:35 Separate yourself from them."
01:02:37 In other words, save your energy for those who are family.
01:02:41 And the reason that being put out of the family
01:02:44 is one of the worst things
01:02:47 is because the blessing is on the family.
01:02:52 The glory is on the family.
01:02:56 The anointing is on the family.
01:02:59 The favor is on the family.
01:03:02 And you might not believe it, but go on ahead
01:03:06 and leave this house
01:03:09 and leave this family.
01:03:11 Leave the fellowship of the saints.
01:03:14 Get on out there by yourself.

01:04:11 Toilets get backed up, and you're walking around saying,

01:04:19 But still, there is no place like home.

01:04:33 I just want to go home.
01:04:39 The prodigal son climbed out of the pigpen and he said,

01:06:39 We are not perfect, but we are family.
01:06:44 We are not flawless, but we are family.
01:06:47 We don't always match on the outside,

01:06:55 We are a source of strength
01:07:00 and a source of support
01:07:03 that can see you through some of the darkest moments

01:07:12 And in closing, I say today,

01:07:19 In everything that you do with your family,
01:07:27 I've talked about this before, and I'm going to say it again now.
01:07:30 I want you to remember the miracle
01:07:34 of the Chinese bamboo tree.
01:07:39 This tree is amazing
01:07:42 because it starts out as just this little, itty-bitty, tiny seed.
01:07:48 It's a seed that you plant.
01:07:52 You better put a marker in there because it's so tiny
01:07:55 that you'll forget where you planted it.
01:07:58 But you plant it.
01:08:00 You nurture it.
01:08:03 You talk to it.
01:08:06 You water it.
01:08:09 And the whole first year,
01:08:13 there are no visible signs of growth.
01:08:19 Second year rolls around, it's your birthday.
01:08:25 You water.
01:08:28 You nourish.
01:08:31 You pour into it.
01:08:34 There's still no activity.
01:08:37 The third year, it's your birthday again.
01:08:42 The fourth year, nothing.
01:08:47 Four years, your patient starts being tested.
01:08:54 And you just begin to wonder,
01:08:58 will my efforts ever be rewarded?
01:09:06 And finally, in the fifth year,
01:09:11 five is the number of grapes,
01:09:13 finally in the fifth year,
01:09:15 behold, we see growth.
01:09:22 In the sixth week of the fifth year,
01:09:30 the Chinese bamboo tree shoots up and grows 80 feet tall.
01:09:42 Do your research.
01:09:45 It is the sixth day of the fifth year.
01:09:53 And you go to bed on the fourth day of the sixth year,
01:09:58 and you wake up and you come out on the fifth day,
01:10:01 and you go,
01:10:04 because while you were sleeping,
01:10:08 because you have been faithful,
01:10:12 because you did it when there was no sign of life,
01:10:16 there was no sign of fruit anywhere,
01:10:20 had it really been lying dormant
01:10:24 for all of those years?
01:10:28 No.
01:10:30 It was just growing in places
01:10:34 that you could not see.
01:10:39 Some of y'all are thinking about kids right now.
01:10:41 Lord, I just thank you
01:10:44 that they're growing in places that I cannot see.
01:10:49 It was growing underground.
01:10:51 It was developing what is called a root system
01:10:55 that would be strong enough to support its potential
01:11:00 when it finally did begin to grow.
01:11:04 Had the tree not developed a strong, unseen foundation,
01:11:11 it could have not sustained the life
01:11:16 that it had the potential to manifest.
01:11:21 Well, your family, your church,
01:11:27 your relationships, your business,
01:11:31 it's like the bamboo tree.
01:11:34 You work it.
01:11:36 Oh, Prophet Calloway was talking Monday night,
01:11:39 and she said,
01:11:41 "Most of the work goes into preparing the soil,
01:11:47 and if you do that right,
01:11:49 you'll put the seed in the soil, does the rest."
01:11:54 Look at somebody, tell them,
01:11:56 "You make sure you're in good soil."
01:12:00 Because if you can get in good soil,
01:12:04 the soil will do all of the work.
01:12:08 You work, you pray, you invest time,
01:12:13 you invest effort, you cultivate,
01:12:16 you correct, you nurture,
01:12:20 and sometimes you go for a long time and see nothing.
01:12:27 But if you will keep working,
01:12:31 keep praying, keep investing,
01:12:35 keep cultivating, keep nurturing,
01:12:39 you are going to be amazed at the growth
01:12:43 and at the change that you will see
01:12:46 take place in your very own family,
01:12:50 and you won't just have to sit back
01:12:52 and admire somebody else's marriage
01:12:55 and admire somebody else's spouse
01:12:57 and admire somebody else's family.
01:13:00 There will be people that will sit back
01:13:03 and admire yours,
01:13:05 and they may never know the price you pay
01:13:08 to build what you have built,
01:13:11 but because you remain faithful
01:13:17 and patient,
01:13:20 patience will get somebody you love
01:13:26 off the top of the slide.

01:13:33 It's faith in action.
01:13:35 That's what patience is.
01:13:37 It gives birth to understanding.

01:13:47 Patience is emotional diligence.
01:13:52 Somebody might come to you this week and say,
01:13:54 "I really want you to be my best friend."
01:13:58 You better think that thing through.
01:14:01 Think it through,
01:14:02 because if you're a friend that does friends right,
01:14:06 it's going to cost you.
01:14:09 Sometimes I've had to look at people and say,
01:14:11 "I'm sorry, I just don't have it in my budget right now."
01:14:16 "Will you sell our board?"
01:14:18 "I'm sorry."
01:14:21 "I don't want to disappoint you,
01:14:22 and I don't want to disappoint God,
01:14:23 and I don't want to disappoint myself."
01:14:26 "I just don't have room in my budget for it right now."
01:14:29 My emotional budget.
01:14:31 That's what I'm talking about.
01:14:36 Patience is often suffering inside
01:14:42 so that others can grow outside.
