00:00 Hi, I'm Sam, Digital Reporter for the Lancashire Post. Come with me as I tried some food today at the Whittaker's Arms in
00:07 Accrington, which has just undergone a major refurbishment and had their grand reopening.
00:12 So on a rainy afternoon in Accrington, I was in need of some good pub munch in the Whittaker's Arms ahead of their grand reopening
00:21 yesterday. I
00:23 could tell that the
00:26 £15,000 refurbishment of the Whittaker's Arms had been spent wisely as
00:30 the decor was really up-to-date, modern and it created a really warm atmosphere inside.
00:35 The new staff as well as the owners were really inviting and the service was incredible from start to finish.
00:41 The pub had a good selection of beers on tap and whilst a pint was very tempting,
00:48 I was unfortunately still at work, so I opted for an ice-cold water instead.
00:54 The Whittaker's Arms food menu had many options,
00:57 including your typical pub food, as well as having some modern twists on including many good vegan options.
01:05 After a lot of deliberation, I decided to go with the buttermilk fried chicken burger,
01:12 which was £10.69 and had two buttermilk fried chicken
01:16 strips with Bullseye original barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese.
01:21 It was also served with skin-on fries and a burger relish.
01:24 So here is me taking my first bite of the buttermilk chicken burger.
01:29 It's quite large, so it took me a few bites to get through it, but I really enjoyed it.
01:35 I thought the chicken itself
01:38 remained crispy throughout and the barbecue sauce
01:42 really complemented the rest of the burger.
01:46 The lettuce, tomato and red onions also gave the burger a sense of freshness that was much needed.
01:52 Now on to what I would call the start of the show is the burger relish, to which I dipped my skin-on fries into.
02:01 I thought this really complemented the whole dish. It was tangy,
02:06 whilst having a bit of a kick to it, and yeah, it was just a really nice sauce to dip those chips into.
02:13 Overall, it was a great meal. As you can see, I left zero crumbs,
02:16 and I'll definitely be visiting the Whittaker's Arms in Accrington again, as I thought the food was great,
02:22 the decor was great and
02:24 the service was great.
