00:00We're here today upstairs at the Music Co-op. We are working on a huge major renovation of the

00:06building. The Co-op has been here for about 40 years and it's been closed for the last three or

00:14four while we've been gone and major renovation works and we're building a load of rehearsal

00:21spaces and recording spaces downstairs. So yeah we're trying our best to get it open again for

00:28the local community. We've been on site 14 months. The first phase was to repair the building itself

00:36with the roof, the walls, the windows. We were funded by LCC, UKSPF and Heritage Action Zone

00:45and now we're into phase two which is doing the internals. So we're doing four music rehearsal

00:51rooms, a recording studio and a control room upstairs in the small cottage and then the bit

00:58that we're in at the moment is the large first floor which is yet to have a full designated

01:04purpose but as you can see it's quite a beautiful space. As you can see the roof in the upstairs

01:10area has been completely replaced so that's all brand new. All the outside work's pretty much done

01:16and we're just concentrating now on building the actual structures of the rehearsal rooms

01:21and the recording studio so yeah we're getting there. We've had some challenges, mainly repairing

01:27the existing structure, getting the sound right, rebuilding the floor because we had to build it

01:33for 200 people so there was a lot of messing around there, setting up the site cabins, getting all the

01:39windows detailed right, putting these huge roof lights in, repairing the existing structure

01:46to mention a few things but yeah we're on target. We've got a deadline for them this month for UKSPF

01:53which we had a site meeting this morning and we're on track for. We started doing things like having

01:59regular gigs for local bands to play and we're just trying to build up momentum so that when we

02:05get open again everyone knows we're here and everyone knows you can come and record and

02:10rehearse here so yeah the community is looking forward to it being back open I think.
