00:00 The apps are built to reward things that have been done and trends that are occurring
00:07 but at the same time, the viewers like to see something fresh.
00:11 What's up? This is Asha with Narsity and I'm with the awesome pop duo from Toronto, Crash Adams.
00:17 How's it going guys?
00:18 Fantastic! Great to meet you, great to meet you.
00:29 So I know you go back and forth from Toronto but you're in Toronto for a couple of days,
00:32 just a few days before your new song releases. Lucky, how are you guys feeling?
00:37 Honestly, we're feeling a little bit lucky.
00:39 Yeah, we're feeling a little bit lucky. We got to come back for this and see our family.
00:43 Fantastic, great to be here.
00:45 So I want to talk about your success with going viral.
00:49 I mean, you guys have gotten big on YouTube, TikTok, social media is huge for you.
00:54 For people who are starting off, can you give a couple of tips, like what's your secret sauce?
00:59 Those days where you're like, you know what, this video is not good enough, I'm not going to post it.
01:02 Just post it anyways because that one time, that moment that I'm talking about right now actually changed our lives.
01:06 There was a video where we were singing bad and then singing good.
01:09 We both looked at it and we said, are we really going to post this video?
01:12 Posted it and it ended up going crazy and now we're here.
01:16 I would also say, do your research.
01:19 We learned a lot by watching a lot, watching a lot of videos.
01:22 There's a lot of great resources out there for people who are trying to be successful in the space.
01:26 And it's not a secret, it's just hard work.
01:30 Who are your favourite content creators? I know there's so many out there and there's a lot of influence that you guys have from California too, right?
01:35 Well, you know, I really like Selena, Spooky Blue and Call Me Chris.
01:38 Big fan, seriously, big fan.
01:40 Seriously.
01:41 Love that. Honestly, that's definitely our number one.
01:48 Yeah, definitely.
01:49 I would say a couple of other great ones is Airax, another great one as well.
01:52 Airax is fantastic. Yeah, Airax is fantastic.
01:54 I like Mr. Beast a lot as well. I take a lot of inspiration from him.
01:57 And I know that you guys are out on the streets, you have a lot of videos.
02:02 I think out in California, kind of singing and then people are joining along, you know, rapping too.
02:07 But how much of your content is planned and how much of it is just organic?
02:11 I'd say a little more than half is definitely organic.
02:14 You know, there are some moments where of course we plan it, but that one moment you're speaking about with the rapper, that was...
02:20 It just happened.
02:21 And I'm just as surprised as you are.
02:23 I think if you're there every day doing it and doing it and doing it, the moments will present themselves.
02:29 How important is it to follow trends and how important is it to be original?
02:33 You know, we did trends in the beginning, but, you know, do things that other people do, but just do them better, I would say.
02:40 I think the apps are built to reward things that have been done and trends that are occurring.
02:48 But at the same time, the viewers like to see something fresh.
02:53 So if you can adapt something and make it your own, I think that's the best way.
02:58 Well, I think you guys have definitely shown that.
03:00 I mean, branding, the dapper suits, the red couch.
03:03 We all want to know what's happening with the red couch these days.
03:05 It's currently in storage, so not much.
03:08 It's coming out though.
03:09 Lucky's coming out, so we're definitely going to be celebrating that.
03:12 We're actually going to be at Young & Dundas, making people's day, making them feel lucky.
03:15 Giving out some stuff and we'll have the couch there as well.
03:17 Perfect! That's so exciting.
03:19 Alright, so if you're looking for tips on content creation, definitely check these guys out, Crash Adams.
03:24 And their single, Lucky, comes out June 2nd.
