00:00 Good afternoon, it's going to turn very windy through tonight and through the rest of the
00:04 day we'll see clouds thicken from the north and west and some quite persistent drizzly
00:09 rain. That's as we've seen a warm front move in overnight so we'll see quite a lot of cloud
00:13 across parts of Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, north-west England, north Wales
00:17 too where we've already seen quite a lot of drizzly rain so far this morning. Across more
00:22 southern and eastern areas though it should stay largely dry through the rest of the day.
00:26 We could even see some sunny spells across parts of London and towards Kent by the end
00:32 of the day as well. As we've got milder air across us it will be a milder afternoon than
00:37 yesterday but it's going to be fairly breezy still, particularly further north and west.
00:43 And the winds do strengthen overnight tonight, that's as we've got a deepening area of low
00:48 pressure moving in across the north and east. That's been named Storm Pier by the Danish
00:53 Met Service, that's because the strongest winds are expected to affect parts of Scandinavia
00:59 but we will potentially see some storm force gusts affecting parts of the Northern Isles.
01:03 So gusts in excess of 80mph are possible here but it's inland we'll see slightly lower gusts
01:10 but it'll still be a blustery day so gusts closer to 50 or 60mph, particularly across
01:15 parts of the Pennines. Through the rest of the day you can see the winds do ease as that
01:19 low pressure pushes off to the east but because we are expecting some very strong winds through
01:24 Thursday we do have a wind warning in force for a large swathe of the country. So we can
01:29 see gusts close to 80mph, some very large waves particularly across the North Sea and
01:35 that does mean that anywhere within this yellow warning area we're expecting longer journey
01:40 times, some travel disruption if you're travelling by rail or by plane or even on the roads as
01:46 well so do take care if you're travelling anywhere throughout the course of Thursday.
01:50 So the winds start to pick up through tonight and through much of the night it will be cloudy
01:55 and damp, particularly for many north and western areas. The rain will turn quite persistent
01:59 across the far north west of Scotland. We'll then see this band push through and behind
02:04 it we see some very blustery showers start to move in across parts of Scotland by tomorrow
02:09 morning. These bring a risk of hail and thunder. Further south and east though it will still
02:14 remain much drier but still quite blustery with a blanket of cloud across the country
02:18 it's going to be a much milder night than last night. But it does start to turn colder
02:23 as that front moves through, that cold front pushes through across Scotland so it will
02:27 turn colder across the far north and here it will be a very windy and unpleasant day
02:32 through tomorrow, particularly through the morning and that windier blustery weather
02:36 does push southwards through the day. We'll continue to see some heavy showers moving
02:41 through as well bringing a risk of hail, sleet and some hill snow as well and the winds
02:46 stay very strong particularly into towards lunchtime before they slowly start to ease
02:51 by the end of the day. Even in the south where we're out of that warning area it will still
02:56 be a blustery day but we'll continue to see much of the cloud through until the afternoon
03:00 holding on to that slightly milder air in the south to highs of 12 or 13 degrees but
03:06 as I said with the strength of the breeze it's not going to be feeling particularly
03:09 warm. It will stay very windy through Friday most likely and quite unsettled into the Christmas
03:15 weekend but you can find more details on your full Christmas outlook by checking out our
03:19 10 day trend later today on YouTube. See you later.
