00:00 Right through the very heart of it, that's right up his alley.
00:03 Here's your look at the new NECA toys, the New York Comic-Con exclusive,
00:06 Ghost Face Takes Manhattan.
00:08 [music]
00:33 This highly detailed and chillingly accurate Ghost Face figure is a must-have for any collector.
00:38 The figure stands 7 inches tall and comes packed with some bloody accessories.
00:42 Five swappable masks are features from the franchise,
00:45 including some New York souvenirs as well as two knives, one that glows in the dark.
00:49 Make Manhattan run red with this killer new exclusive.
00:52 I think we better start spreading the news that he's slaying today.
00:56 Before, of course, we get a closer look at the New York Comic-Con exclusive, Ghost Face,
01:00 let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:03 In a moment as well, I'm going to bring in the ultimate Ghost Face, the one that we had looked at before.
01:07 Some elements of it seem to be shared with that one and this one here,
01:10 and then it seems to be the case that they've used some brand new molding.
01:14 The Ghost Face here from New York actually stands about 6 3/4 of an inch in height,
01:19 or the figure is going to be about 17 centimeters tall.
01:24 Yeah, speaking of that other screen, Ghost Face,
01:26 let's just slide over the one that we're about to have a look at
01:28 and bring the original ultimate Ghost Face.
01:31 I know some would say it's not really the most ultimate of Ghost Face.
01:34 Obviously, some of the things that were detractor from this one being a collector's fan favorite
01:38 was the fact that maybe the rope, for example, wasn't long enough.
01:41 His hood was too close to his mask.
01:43 And of course, there was always the inevitable problem of the fact that the elbows were prone to breaking.
01:48 Now, it does seem though, at least his lower half,
01:50 I'm going to talk more about this obviously in a moment,
01:52 but it seems though his lower half is going to probably be the same.
01:55 The legs and the shoes are going to be exactly the same between the two.
01:58 But if you were to say look at the two and you put them back to back,
02:01 one thing I did notice though is it seems like his shoulders are a little bit sharper.
02:06 And it also seems like he's obviously a little bit taller there also as well.
02:09 But it does seem to be the case at least from Ghost Face.
02:12 From the waist down at least, they seem to be identical figures.
02:16 Now, the accessories that come included with the New York Comic Con exclusive Ghost Face,
02:20 I would imagine are probably going to trim down at some point
02:22 and release as a version 2 Ultimate Ghost Face from NECA down the road.
02:26 If there was the off chance that that wasn't ever going to happen,
02:29 I unfortunately had to pull the trigger and get this guy over on eBay.
02:32 And it might very well be the most expensive NECA figure I have ever purchased.
02:36 Already out the gate, this guy was just shy of being $100.
02:40 Then I had to pay the shipping and all the brokerage fund stuff that went along with this.
02:44 This guy was actually closer to about $170.
02:47 Ouch! I almost should have even just gone to New York and got this in person.
02:51 Speaking of New York though, the things that come included with him that are exclusives to New York,
02:55 the figure first of all comes included with a playbill.
02:58 One thing I really like about the playbill is you can see that there's Ghost Face on the front.
03:01 If you look at the back though, on the back there's the Statue of Liberty.
03:04 Oh wait, that's not the Statue of Liberty. It does have Ghost Face's face.
03:09 If you look on the inside of it though, one thing I really also like is the fact that the cast inside
03:14 are actually people that work for NECA Toys.
03:16 You can see there's Randy Falk and there's, hey, there's Blaine. Blaine!
03:19 Some of the characters, the cast, the crew responsible for producing some of our favorite things
03:23 that NECA has been doing all this while are represented as actors and actresses inside the playbill.
03:28 This is basically just a cardboard playbill by the way. I'll put that to the side.
03:32 The figure as well comes included with a tiny little Statue of Liberty.
03:36 Missed opportunity perhaps that you never stabbed someone with the Statue of Liberty's torch?
03:41 Maybe, maybe.
03:42 The actual statue itself is made of a fairly soft plastic,
03:46 but this can be carried around with them if you wanted to.
03:49 I don't really have a plan necessarily to have the figure displayed with the Statue of Liberty,
03:52 but hey, all the power to you if that's the direction you wanted to certainly go.
03:56 I'm going to put that over to the side.
03:58 The figure comes with also a series of interchangeable masks.
04:01 I'm really liking the way that they found a way to cleverly change the masks out
04:05 without having to pop the head off every single time.
04:07 Why am I doing it like that?
04:09 Before we actually get down to looking at that, the figure also comes with a series of swappable hands.
04:13 Some of the hands are sort of questionable though.
04:16 I mean, these are hands clearly suited for holding things like,
04:19 oh, I don't know, like his voice changer box for example.
04:21 But then if you look at one of the hands, which one is the hand that I was thinking of before?
04:25 Maybe it is, maybe it is this hand right here.
04:27 This hand, and I don't know if it's maybe just me, I'm looking at this, and I would swear to you,
04:32 that's a trigger firing finger hand.
04:35 Maybe at some point they had planned, or they're planning to release this guy down the road,
04:40 included with a shotgun.
04:41 And we are also going to be getting that other Ghost Face that also is going to have the shotguns,
04:45 but also going to have like the bulletproof vest and all that other fun stuff that's going to go along with.
04:49 But maybe we're also going to be getting this hand used for a future Ghost Face.
04:53 It's basically just going to be a repackage of this guy.
04:55 I don't really know. I'm only just making that guess.
04:57 He also as well comes included with this tiny little hand.
05:00 Now this hand, if you take yourself to Playbill,
05:03 in between the pointer and the thumb, you'll find a tiny little section.
05:07 And that tiny little section, if you can believe it, is more than capable enough to hold the Playbill in his hand.
05:13 Like that.
05:14 The figure as well comes included with this voice change box.
05:17 Speaking of voice change box, you may notice that my voice is coming back.
05:20 Not the best though.
05:21 I didn't want to bring in the other voice change box that came included, for example,
05:24 with the other Ghost Face, the Ultimate Ghost Face.
05:26 Notably, you'll see that this one's a lot larger than the one that we get here for the Comic-Con exclusive.
05:31 I don't know why they wouldn't have used just the same one,
05:34 unless maybe you go back and look at the movie again.
05:37 Maybe it does actually have a slightly thinner voice changing box than the original one we got before.
05:42 It is about the same size, although this one is notably thicker.
05:46 The figure also comes included with two versions of knife.
05:49 Now, one version is glow-in-the-dark. It's this one right here.
05:52 The other one happens to be the same knife, just cast here in silver plastic.
05:56 And the actual guard and sections down below are all molded here in black plastic.
06:01 And of course, you got a little bit of silver there, if I get my hand out of the way.
06:04 A little bit of silver on the end of it.
06:06 Now, you don't get all the other fun knives, for example.
06:08 So don't do away with that other Ghost Face from before.
06:11 Like all the other bloody knives, let's bring all three of them in.
06:14 It's a little happy family of bloody knives.
06:17 None of these knives were also included with this release.
06:19 So again, if you really wanted to, I mean, you could easily use the hands.
06:22 Like, say, for example, let's grab the butcher knife.
06:25 If you want to grab the knife, you can grab this hand.
06:28 And you got yourself a fairly suitable replacement hand, if you wanted to have him holding the knives.
06:34 As he is right now, he has--let's move everything out of the way. Move everything out of the way.
06:38 The figure has already a gripping hand, but you'll see, like, the pointer finger is already molded to the thumb.
06:44 It's only just enough quarters to accommodate the knife that he has right now.
06:48 So I'm just going to carefully put the knife in there right now.
06:50 He has, again, just only just enough space to accommodate that.
06:53 So again, if you wanted to have him use the larger knife, so the earlier released Michael--the earlier released Ghostface,
06:59 simply just use a different hand, just in case I pop the hands off and replace them that way.
07:04 Okay, so here we go when it comes to his alternate heads.
07:07 Now, I'm going to bring back in the original Ghostface Ultimate releases.
07:10 Now, we got, what, three extra heads, not counting the one he came included with.
07:14 All of these were self-contained.
07:16 In other words, if you want to change out the heads, for example,
07:19 again, you would have to pop these off the head and just replace the entire thing.
07:24 All of it. All of it you'd have to replace.
07:26 Not this time around.
07:28 Cleverly, what NECA did instead, you'll see that the masks themselves are actually just face plates.
07:34 You flip it around on the back.
07:35 In fact, there's two pegs, two eyes looking at you.
07:38 And this is just a case you're going to remove the head existing from the head, or remove the face from the head,
07:43 and then you're just going to replace it with the one that you want to work with.
07:45 Now, he has the clean mask right now, default, default.
07:48 But he also has the cracked mask, if you want to go that route instead.
07:52 He also has a bloodied mask, which is basically just the exact same mask,
07:55 but just has a whole lot more blood of it.
07:58 He also comes with the stab mask.
08:03 And again, it's all molded here, just in green plastic.
08:05 So again, if you want to have the figure displayed with the green knife, green mask, you can do it that route.
08:09 And he also comes included with a rainbow mask, which is actually, looking at all of them,
08:14 it's the shiniest of the masks.
08:17 So there's always that option available if you wanted to.
08:20 Again, changing out the mask, I can't believe how easy it is.
08:23 You don't even have to really remove back his hood either.
08:26 Just going to take him from the chin, and you just detach it from the front.
08:30 Easy as that.
08:32 And then all you're going to do is find the mask that you want to work with.
08:34 So if you want to go with the cracked mask, for example, we're going to take the two pegs provided,
08:38 line them up with now the two holes, fit that in place, snap that in place.
08:42 Now you've got the cracked mask.
08:44 This needs to be something moving forward that they have to do with all of their ghost face.
08:47 Instead of, again, just popping an entire head off every single time, removing the face plates,
08:52 whoever thought of this idea could very well have been inside this play bill.
08:58 Anyone responsible for this needs to get themselves a raise.
09:02 Because the idea of changing that is a lot easier.
09:06 The masks themselves, again, all seem somewhat similar.
09:09 Although the white one, you'll notice the chin sticks out a little bit further than the others.
09:13 I don't know if you guys can see it or not.
09:15 Maybe it's just my own eyes playing tricks on me.
09:17 But it definitely seems to take a very sharp cut when it gets to the bottom.
09:21 Instead of the gradual curve that you can see with normally the mouth,
09:24 it definitely seems to be a little bit more of like a bird feeder.
09:27 Really nice looking masks, though.
09:30 All of the masks, all of the things about this ghost face really make him, for me at least,
09:34 the definitive go-to.
09:36 It's just a shame that along with that, the price, I had to pay so much for this guy.
09:39 Gotta think this guy's gonna get a version 2 or more mass retail release at some point.
09:45 The thing I also really like about this one is the fact that the hood has been corrected.
09:49 So it's added now a wireframe on the inside.
09:51 But look how much clearance.
09:53 I mean, you could fit a family of four inside there.
09:55 If you were to, say, compare it with the original Ultimate Ghost Face,
09:58 the one thing I really didn't like about the initial release
10:01 is the fact that the hood was so close to his face.
10:04 Ghost Face always should have a really rounded hood,
10:08 kind of basically just wrapped around his face.
10:11 And again, with the benefit of this being a wireframe,
10:13 is that you can really manipulate it any which way that you want.
10:16 Not only is it a wireframe here, but it's also a wire back here as well.
10:20 So you can also bend and move the point on the back of his cowl piece,
10:24 or on the back of his hood.
10:25 So I really am happy with this one.
10:27 There's nothing, nothing at all I can think of that I would have done differently with this Ghost Face.
10:32 Just really, really happy with the way that this one turned out.
10:35 Okay, so for the rest of his outfit,
10:37 I'm going to again bring back in the original one for a reference point.
10:40 The sleeves are very similar.
10:42 The actual danglings that he has, if you want to call them that, are very similar as well.
10:47 And if you were to, say, look at the two, the shoes and the legs are identical.
10:50 In fact, I'm just going to put this figure down here for a second.
10:53 When we looked at this one, remember he had like--
10:55 well, you could kind of basically see the building block of how this guy was put together.
10:59 This Ghost Face has that.
11:01 It's a little harder, of course, to bring everything up.
11:03 You can see he has the exact same setup, but it seems like his torso,
11:07 maybe not as much this area.
11:09 This area seems to be the same.
11:11 But it seems like his shoulders are a little sharper on the top.
11:14 Not sharp, like to the point where you can feel it.
11:16 It's not just even a seam line either, because if I move the seam out of the way,
11:20 it seems like he's got a higher shoulder.
11:22 And I don't know, maybe it's-- maybe again, it's just me.
11:25 It doesn't seem like his shoulder sits as high as it did on the newer one as it did on the original one.
11:31 The arms themselves also seem like they're very similar too.
11:34 So legs are going to be the same.
11:36 The arms are shared between the two.
11:38 They also seem to be the same.
11:39 And one thing also about the sleeves is that they're also glued in place.
11:43 So you can't bring the sleeves up, for example.
11:46 Some might be a little bit bothered by that, by the fact that you can't then get access to the elbow bend
11:51 if the elbow was, say, to break.
11:52 But the elbows, knock on wood, so far, have held up on me.
11:55 I mean, they feel-- I mean, to the point where I can easily bend the elbows.
11:59 I don't feel like something's going to start to give way.
12:01 There's definitely resistance where it's telling me, like, stop what you're doing.
12:04 Stop what you're doing.
12:05 I don't have that.
12:06 I don't have-- I had that experience when we looked at the other Ghostface.
12:08 I don't have that experience as much looking at this one.
12:11 For the articulation on this Ghostface, so his head's going to be on ball joint.
12:15 If I was to say, bring it back, by the way, the head is-- by the way, you know what?
12:19 We'll bring back the other one here as well.
12:21 One thing I was kind of interested to see, if you bring this back, you can see, like,
12:25 they've sculpted it in such a way that it actually looks like a material.
12:29 See how it's a little looser on the back?
12:31 This one basically was just a big round noggin, and then, of course, the face was on the front of it.
12:35 So I kind of like that, even though it's really not a part you're ever going to really see on the figure.
12:39 You can even see the way that would have been stitched on the back when they would have made the masks.
12:43 Anyways, the head is going to be on a ball joint, so it does rotate back and forth.
12:46 It looks up only about that far, and it looks down that far.
12:50 And, of course, you can also rock it back and forth as well.
12:52 Just bring the hood back over.
12:54 Boy, that hood is awesome.
12:56 That's my favorite thing about the figure.
12:58 Shoulders come out. They're on pin and hinge joints, so you can bring them out about there.
13:02 About 90 degrees, a little less than maybe 90 degrees.
13:04 You can take the arms and move them forward. You can move them back.
13:07 The figure does seem to have a double bend in the elbows.
13:10 There's a hinge right there.
13:12 Maybe there's only a single hinge.
13:14 I'm only feeling one. Maybe there's-- oh, there's one there.
13:17 Yeah, OK, there's one right there. There's one right there.
13:19 I was right. There's a double hinge on the elbow.
13:21 Hands rotate also all the way around.
13:23 And, again, because his build seems to be similar to the other one,
13:26 upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
13:28 The waist doesn't have any waist swivel or anything like that,
13:31 but the legs do split up quite far, in fact.
13:33 Bring the legs forward. Bring the legs back.
13:35 Swivel at the top of the thigh.
13:37 There's a single hinge only on the lower knee.
13:39 And you can, of course, rotate the lower leg.
13:41 There's an ankle pivot back and forth this way,
13:43 and you can also move the feet up and down as well.
13:46 All of the things that I would have maybe been critical about--
13:49 in fact, I probably wasn't critical when we looked at the original Ghostface.
13:52 Let's just get this guy to stand.
13:54 When we looked at this one-- let's fix him-- fix himself up here.
13:58 When we looked at this one, problems I had right out the gate
14:01 was the fact that his robe was too short,
14:03 was the fact that his hood piece didn't--
14:06 it sat too flush to, say, for example, the figure's head.
14:10 The thing about now I feel like has been fixed.
14:13 With the newer Ghostface, obviously, the robe is a lot longer.
14:15 As it should be.
14:17 The mask, obviously, is a little bit more movie accurate.
14:19 I don't know why I'm not getting this guy to stand properly.
14:22 The only other thing I would say is his ankle is a little, at times, problematic
14:25 when it comes to trying to get Ghostface to stand.
14:27 He was standing fine earlier before.
14:29 There we go. There we go. Okay.
14:31 [whistles]
14:33 So, again, one thing I really like about this figure is, first of all,
14:35 it has a longer robe, which should be the case right out the gate.
14:38 It's got a better-looking head sculpt.
14:40 When you decide to settle on this one, you want to go with the stab,
14:43 the bloodied head sculpt, the regular just a clean face, or the rainbow mask.
14:47 So it has lots of options available.
14:49 The other thing I also really like is the way that the hood sits,
14:52 where you've got that wire frame.
14:54 It gives lots more clearance, a lot more leeway on the inside of his hood.
14:57 And because it's also wire-framed, you can, you know, again,
15:00 move that the way-- any which way that you want.
15:02 He's also got the point that does the same as well.
15:04 Unfortunately, like, my takeaway from this is it's a much better Ghostface,
15:08 but it came, unfortunately, with the price of what I had to pay for it.
15:11 If you were lucky enough to go to New York Comic-Con, for example,
15:14 when this guy was first available, I think originally the asking price
15:17 was $40 for Ghostface.
15:19 Good luck finding him now for $40.
15:22 I don't know if I would wish myself to pay that price again
15:27 if I wanted to track down another one of these Ghostface.
15:29 I can only hope with what all they've done now with this release,
15:33 NECOTOYS that is, that we are going to be getting probably this guy
15:35 as a retail release at some point.
15:37 If they are going to release him as a retail,
15:39 probably not going to maybe include necessarily, like, the Rainbow Mask.
15:42 I don't know. They might not even include, like, all of the masks.
15:44 Maybe probably just, like, the White Mask, the Bloodied Mask, the Cracked Mask.
15:48 Maybe not even include the Stab Mask. I don't really know.
15:51 But they certainly don't need to include, like, the Playbill,
15:54 and they don't need to include the little Statue of Liberty.
15:56 Like, those are all things keep definitely for the exclusive,
15:59 so if you still wanted to get that one.
16:01 But as only I can make this as a plea to NECOTOYS,
16:04 I hope this guy does get a release at some point as a retail release.
16:07 For those, unfortunately, that never got the chance to get the New York Comic Con,
16:10 like, again, leave all the exclusives out that are, of course, attached to New York,
16:15 and release this guy maybe even again with the included shotgun.
16:18 But all in all, though, it goes to show, like,
16:20 I like this one, but I love this one so much better,
16:23 and it's a much, much more, far more movie accurate Ghostface
16:28 than the initial one that we got before.
16:30 If you are lucky enough, congratulations to have got this guy at New York.
16:33 If you are interested to get this guy, like I said,
16:35 your only option really is to go online to places like eBay, for example.
16:39 And already, I'm just, like, looking at the prices on what he's selling on eBay.
16:43 We're talking, like, $120, $140, $170.
16:45 I've seen him all the way up to, like, actually $210.
16:48 I didn't pay $210 for it. I paid about $170 for it.
16:52 I don't know if I would say it was worth $170,
16:54 but it certainly was worth the add to my collection.
16:56 So I guess based on what the asking price of him is right now,
17:00 if you're able to find him, and you're able to find him for a good price,
17:03 he's definitely one of the best, if not the best, he is the best Ghostface we've gotten from NECA Toys.
17:08 Well, it could very well be the most expensive NECA figure I've ever purchased in my collection, asterisk.
17:13 I'm putting that little asterisk in there,
17:15 because there's probably very well larger NECA figures that I bought,
17:17 like, for example, like the Spider Gremlin.
17:19 I'm trying to think of other ones, maybe like the quarter scale NECA figures.
17:22 Those obviously probably would have been a little bit more expensive when I finally had to ship them.
17:26 But when it sticks to 7-inch scale,
17:29 Ghostface is the most expensive figure I've ever purchased from NECA Toys.
17:32 Now along with that, it's also the most happiest I've been opening up a NECA figure.
17:37 First of all, getting this guy finally arriving to my doorstep, opening up the package.
17:41 Let me actually just clarify, it wasn't right to my doorstep.
17:43 I have this stuff delivered to my mailbox.
17:46 I never risk a figure at $170 just randomly being dropped off at my doorstep.
17:51 So let me just add a footnote to that.
17:53 Picking this up at my post office, getting it home, getting the guy out of the packaging.
17:58 This is the most excited I've been for a NECA figure for a very long time.
18:01 I'm generally most excited when it comes to opening up NECA figures.
18:04 But like the fact that this looks as good as it does.
18:07 Yes, it's a bit of a sting knowing that I had to pay the price that I did.
18:11 But man, did NECA go all out with this release.
18:13 It wasn't simply just a case that they took already the ultimate version of Ghostface.
18:17 Which I guess in some ways the building blocks of the body are about still the same.
18:21 But they've completely redesigned the head sculpt.
18:24 Added a completely new simpler way of changing out the face.
18:28 Which is by far the easiest, best thing I think that goes along with this figure.
18:32 Is the fact that faces are so easy to remove.
18:34 The fact that the figure has first of all like 5 face plates to work with.
18:38 I mean, I would have just been fine with a bloody face, a cracked head and obviously the clean mask.
18:44 But the fact that we also get ourselves the rainbow mask.
18:46 Probably not going to display the figure with that honestly.
18:48 Or the stab mask, probably not going to be displaying that figure with it honestly.
18:52 It also comes included of course with the Statue of Liberty little statue.
18:56 And it also comes included with the Playkill.
18:58 I kept in this entire review calling it the Playbill.
19:01 Because that's normally what it is when you go to theatre plays.
19:03 It was actually called Playkill.
19:05 A nice little play on words.
19:07 And again a nice little playful way of including also the little cast of crew.
19:11 The cast and crew of NECA inside the Playbill as actors and actresses.
19:14 All little fun things that they added to this release of the Ghostface.
19:18 That if you had the chance to pick this guy up locally, congratulations.
19:22 I'm very envious of the fact that you guys were able to get this guy in hand without having to pay.
19:26 Obviously order this guy online.
19:28 If you guys order this online, obviously it's going to be a little bit more expensive.
19:32 But I got to think that with all the work and engineering that went into.
19:35 First of all, brand new design of a head sculpt with interchangeable face plates.
19:40 Got to think that NECA is going to be planning to release this guy as a retail down the road.
19:44 If that's the case, you probably won't be getting the Playkill and you won't get the Statue of Liberty statue.
19:48 And I'm okay with that.
19:49 There's still at least enough to go with this guy that even if they do release, let's just say,
19:53 a retail version of this guy down the road.
19:55 Having the guy with the exclusives that he comes included with, I'm not going to feel robbed.
19:59 I might feel a little more sting the fact that I paid $170 for this guy.
20:04 But still when it's all said and done, I'm very happy to finally have this Ghostface and put him on my shelf.
20:10 Have you guys had the chance to get the New York Comic Con exclusive Ghostface?
20:14 If you have, let me know down below in the comments section.
20:16 And how do you have the figure displayed?
20:18 Because of course he does have five face plates to work with.
20:21 Which one did you settle with when it came to displaying this guy on your shelf?
20:25 Also, as well, if you guys enjoyed this video, I want to hit it with a like.
20:28 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing and you certainly would like to stick around for more,
20:32 we've got a whole bunch of actually horror reviews coming your way this week.
20:35 So if that's kind of thing you guys would certainly like to come back to this channel for,
20:38 make sure you're coming back here not only for those horror reviews,
20:41 but all the other things I'm doing here on a regular basis.
20:44 As always guys, thanks for watching.
20:46 And I'll see you guys next time.
