01:44 - Hello everyone.
02:12 Thank you for joining us on this live stream.
02:15 Really appreciate it,
02:16 especially when it's this close to home time.
02:18 So if you're at work, get back to work,
02:20 but have this open in the background.
02:22 Whereas if you're at home, maybe crack a beer open.
02:25 So today, what are we gonna be chatting about?
02:26 Well, I just took delivery of my Ranger Raptor.
02:31 Up on the screen here in front of me,
02:32 I can see all your questions coming through.
02:34 So ask as many as you want.
02:35 I'm gonna try and answer as many as I can as we go.
02:38 And also as part of this as well,
02:40 if you do want your question read out first,
02:42 you can use a Super Chat on YouTube or Facebook stars,
02:46 and that will come up here in front of me.
02:48 I'll be able to see it.
02:49 And any money that you put in for that
02:51 will actually go to helping us buy new equipment,
02:53 getting me a new jumper and stylist
02:56 and all that sort of stuff.
02:57 So first off, I just wanted to say a big thank you
02:59 to everyone for your support on the channel.
03:02 It has grown so quickly over the past two and a half years,
03:05 we're genuinely blown away by it.
03:07 And it's meant that we can actually spend money on equipment
03:10 and do fun stuff like this,
03:11 which is actually very taxing and hard to do.
03:13 So Eagle was behind all the equipment here today,
03:15 getting it all set up.
03:16 We're able to hire Lang Lang,
03:18 literally a proving ground to do all of our video stuff.
03:22 So we really do appreciate everyone watching.
03:24 And I thought we'd show you this graph as well.
03:26 We've just gone through the process of upfronts
03:29 for the website,
03:30 and we've given people that sort of spend money with us
03:33 an idea of how our channel's doing.
03:35 And it wasn't until I actually saw this graph
03:37 that I was like, holy crap,
03:38 we are actually doing pretty well there
03:40 in terms of numbers.
03:41 So what you're looking at is our YouTube views
03:45 compared to some of our competitors.
03:47 And you can see that there are some months there
03:48 where we get more views than all of our competitors combined,
03:52 which I'm super happy about.
03:54 So I'm very proud of the achievement
03:56 our team has put together here.
03:58 And that big spike was our medium SUV comparison.
04:01 We have a giant ute comparison coming
04:05 that we'll be slaving over next week.
04:06 So stacks of content coming up there.
04:08 So I'll move on to the next thing very quickly as well,
04:12 which is our good friend, Oscar.
04:14 So if you do subscribe to our channel,
04:16 Oscar suffers from muscular dystrophy.
04:18 And Oscar's mom reached out to us
04:20 and mentioned that Oscar wanted to meet me.
04:22 And I thought, well, look,
04:23 anyone that wants to spend time with me is very brave.
04:26 So we thought we'd put on a fun day out for Oscar.
04:29 And the fun day out that we put together
04:31 included a drag race, which Oscar hosted for us,
04:35 and also a trip to Macca's, meeting some police.
04:38 He got to see some highway patrol officers in a Kia Stinger.
04:42 And look, if you do want to help us support
04:45 muscular dystrophy and the Save Our Sons Foundation,
04:47 please head to our YouTube channel
04:48 and have a look at Oscar's day out the video.
04:51 Every single dollar of revenue from that video
04:54 is gonna go to the Save Our Sons
04:55 Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
04:57 And then in addition to that as well,
04:59 you can support that video with super thanks as well.
05:03 Every single dollar we get from that
05:04 will go to charity as well.
05:05 So please check that out.
05:06 Here's a quick snippet from that video as well,
05:09 just to give you an idea of what we went through
05:11 and how all that went.
05:12 So Eagle, roll it up.
05:14 We are ready for your countdown
05:22 and I promise I'll be ready this time.
05:24 - Three, two, one, go.
05:26 - Yes.
05:31 (car engine roaring)
05:34 (laughing)
05:39 - No.
05:40 - Flambo dot that, flambo dot that.
05:46 - Oh, that's so annoying.
05:50 - Flambo what?
05:52 - Even with a jump start.
05:55 Okay, that's fair and square, Elbows is the winner.
05:59 (laughing)
06:01 - Alrighty, so thank you again for everyone
06:05 that has watched that and supported that as well.
06:07 And Nigel Brown, come on FFS, I know what that stands for.
06:11 Get on with it.
06:12 Thanks, Nigel.
06:13 Sorry, we're just trying to support charity here,
06:15 but thank you and sorry for wasting so much of your time.
06:19 All right, let's get on with,
06:21 I have my Raptor now.
06:22 So I collected it from Mideki Ford in Port Macquarie.
06:26 And a lot of people asked why did I go to Port Macquarie
06:29 to pick up the Ranger Raptor?
06:31 Well, there was a simple reason.
06:33 I wanted to, A, support a regional dealer
06:35 instead of just going to a city dealer.
06:37 But also when I put the call out to social media
06:39 for the Ranger Raptor,
06:40 when I was first going to pick one of these up,
06:43 I didn't wanna trample on any customers' toes.
06:46 So I wanted a dealer that was able to give me an allocation
06:49 that wasn't going to affect other customers.
06:50 And George, the dealer principal at Mideki Ford
06:53 actually offered me his personal car.
06:55 So it meant that no customers were going to be affected.
06:58 So I really do appreciate that.
06:59 And it means that I took his ride
07:01 and went through there to pick it up.
07:04 What we're doing as part of a video
07:06 that's gonna go live next week,
07:07 I actually go through the pre-delivery process.
07:10 Because when you do buy one of these cars,
07:11 you pay money to a dealer for the pre-delivery process.
07:15 And there is a lot of work that goes into getting
07:18 a vehicle ready as part of that pre-delivery process.
07:20 So the video that we have going live next week,
07:23 I've run through that entire process.
07:24 I was actually pretty surprised by it as well.
07:26 There was a lot that actually happens there.
07:28 It isn't just a quick wash and your car's ready.
07:30 They go through a fair bit of stuff there
07:32 to prepare the vehicle.
07:33 Question there from Beast Tex has asked,
07:36 have you heard if the 2024 Toyota Hilux
07:39 coming to Australia with a 3.3 litre V6 diesel,
07:42 approximately 250 kilowatts, 700 Newton meters?
07:46 Look, we hear a lot of stuff on Hilux.
07:48 And before I sort of get on with Ranger Raptor stuff here,
07:51 I'm going to be reading out all of the messages
07:54 that come through with super thanks
07:55 or Facebook stars immediately.
07:56 So I'll stop what I'm doing and get straight onto those.
07:58 So thank you for chipping in there as well, mate.
08:01 Yeah, look, the Hilux will be interesting
08:03 because obviously Toyota now has, I guess,
08:06 a benchmark in the segment for technology, performance,
08:09 that kind of thing.
08:10 And the Hilux is very dated at the moment
08:12 on all of those fronts.
08:13 So I think that Toyota is acting very quickly
08:15 to get this sorted.
08:16 What I have heard is they'll drop that 3.3 litre V6 diesel
08:20 from the Land Cruiser 300 series into Hilux.
08:23 If they do that, that's obviously a big step forward
08:25 in terms of giving that a bit of punch.
08:27 And to me, I think that is the most logical step for them.
08:30 It's actually a really good engine in the Land Cruiser,
08:32 especially paired to that 10-speed automatic transmission.
08:35 And I think it will work well in Hilux.
08:37 But where Ford has an advantage at the moment
08:39 is on technology and also how the car feels behind the wheel.
08:42 It has wider track, which they've now implemented
08:44 in Hilux Road, but not on the rest of the Hilux range.
08:47 You get disc brakes on the higher variants
08:49 of Ranger as well.
08:51 So Toyota's going to have to do more
08:52 than just dropping that diesel engine into it.
08:54 But knowing Toyota,
08:55 they would definitely be working on this.
08:56 They've also said that they're working on a competitor
08:58 for the Raptor as well.
09:00 And clearly, if the Raptor is a concern to them,
09:03 which I think it is,
09:04 they're probably going to put a bit of effort behind it.
09:06 They do have a V6 petrol hybrid version
09:10 of some of their bigger pickup trucks available
09:12 in the States, and I'm hoping that finds its way
09:14 into Hilux.
09:15 But, you know, Ranger Raptor is a pretty special vehicle
09:18 from the sense that it is more than just a big engine
09:22 in a dual cab.
09:23 It really is the full package there.
09:25 So I'll jump on to, I mentioned how I got one earlier,
09:30 but I mentioned in the sort of preface of this video,
09:33 how much you should be paying for dealer delivery
09:36 on your Ranger Raptor.
09:37 Now, we covered a story a little while back on Car Expert
09:40 about people getting ripped off by dealers
09:42 with dealer delivery.
09:43 Some were talking about five or $6,000 dealer delivery.
09:46 When it comes to a recommended retail price,
09:48 that is the price that Ford, as a company in Australia,
09:51 sets for their vehicle.
09:52 It's then up to the dealer to charge that to the customer.
09:56 But where the dealer has variance is in dealer delivery.
09:58 They can make up whatever number they want there.
10:00 They're given a guide by Ford,
10:02 but the rest is all just up to them.
10:04 The dealer delivery process includes a number of things.
10:07 So it is the pre-delivery that I mentioned earlier,
10:09 and that we'll detail in the video that goes live next week.
10:12 It's also getting the car from the docks
10:14 to the dealership as well.
10:15 So obviously, the further the dealership is,
10:17 the more it's going to cost.
10:19 Depending on how the dealership is set up,
10:20 they'll either share that cost amongst all dealers,
10:23 or they'll pay for their share of the distance as well.
10:25 So obviously, if you're a dealer
10:26 that's right next to the docks,
10:28 you shouldn't need to pay as much,
10:29 but then the more regional dealers
10:31 will pay more for dealer delivery.
10:32 So just depending on how the company works,
10:34 it will sort of vary the way that it does that.
10:36 So how much should you be paying for dealer delivery
10:39 on your new Ranger or Ranger Raptor?
10:42 Well, you shouldn't be paying any more than $2,000.
10:44 And the reason for that is that $2,000
10:47 will cover everything that they're doing.
10:49 It's basically a full day of work on your car
10:51 in that process of getting it ready,
10:53 plus the delivery to the dealership as well
10:55 that is amortized across a number of vehicles
10:57 and other dealerships too.
10:58 So if you are looking at getting a new Ford Ranger
11:01 and the dealer wants to charge you more than $2,200
11:05 for dealer delivery, I would be questioning that.
11:08 The problem is a lot of dealers are simply saying,
11:10 "Okay, well, if you don't want to pay that, that's fine.
11:12 "We'll just cancel your order, give you a refund."
11:14 Obviously, it's a bit of annoyance
11:16 if you're waiting six, 12 months for your car
11:18 and it finally arrives and they tell you,
11:20 "Hey, you now have to cancel and start again."
11:23 So obviously weigh that option up.
11:25 But to me, you really shouldn't be paying
11:27 any more than two grand to get your car
11:28 and there isn't enough work involved
11:31 for it to be costing $5,000.
11:33 It is just the dealer taking the piss.
11:34 And if that does happen,
11:35 make sure you name and shame that dealer
11:37 because it isn't fair that customers get ripped off
11:40 like that as part of that process.
11:41 So let's run through a few questions
11:44 that are just coming in here.
11:46 I'll start off with YouTube, Beast Texts again.
11:48 Thank you again for that super chat, mate.
11:50 How's the real world fuel economy?
11:53 So the sticker on the car says,
11:54 I think it's 11.5 litres per 100 Ks or something like that.
11:58 I can tell you that the best you'll ever achieve
12:01 is highway driving and the lowest I've seen is 11.1.
12:05 So I drove from Port Macquarie all the way back to Melbourne
12:08 and the lowest we got to was about 11.1.
12:11 Now, there are a number of reasons for that.
12:13 It sits quite high off the ground.
12:14 It isn't exactly the most aerodynamic car in the world.
12:17 Even with those recovery hooks on the front,
12:19 you have covers that sit on there.
12:21 I left mine off, but obviously that is another place
12:24 for air to sort of mix and slow the vehicle down,
12:27 cause the engine to work harder.
12:29 So yeah, keep that in mind.
12:31 Don't buy this car if you want efficiency.
12:32 It is not an efficient vehicle.
12:34 So 11 is the lowest you'll ever see
12:36 and that's with highway driving.
12:37 If you then start driving it in and around the city,
12:39 it'll be closer to 15.
12:41 And then if you really do get stuck into it
12:42 and drive a little bit stupid,
12:44 you are gonna be nudging 20 litres per 100 Ks.
12:46 So keep that in mind.
12:48 It is not the most efficient vehicle in the world.
12:50 Somebody else asked whether it runs on 91, 95 or 98.
12:55 It'll actually run on all of those.
12:57 So I'll be feeding my 98
12:59 and I would always feed at 98 anyway.
13:01 The quality of unleaded fuel in Australia is terrible.
13:04 The sulphur content of 91 and 95 RON is really bad.
13:07 98 RON is better, but still not amazing.
13:09 So I would only put 98 through it.
13:11 It has been engineered to work on 91 and 95 though.
13:14 So if you do happen to feed at 91, it will work fine.
13:17 You just won't get the same output
13:19 that you do get with 98 RON.
13:21 So just keep that in mind.
13:22 If you do want peak output,
13:23 you wanna go down the path of 98.
13:25 We actually did a dyno test as well,
13:27 not that long ago where we strapped the Ranger Raptor,
13:30 the V6 diesel and the full cylinder diesel onto a dyno.
13:33 It was just a rolling road dyno to see the power outputs
13:36 and Ranger pumped out a little over 200 kilowatts
13:38 at the wheels.
13:39 Some of you were jumping up and down
13:40 about how that was wrong
13:42 and how the guy operating the dyno had no idea
13:44 and all that sort of stuff.
13:45 Look, he runs literally a performance workshop
13:48 and dynos like 1000 horsepower,
13:50 2000 horsepower cars for a living.
13:53 So I don't think that was an issue.
13:55 We will actually be doing as part of our massive ute test,
13:58 a number of different dyno experiments
14:00 with all of the utes in this segment.
14:02 So that means we'll be able to repeat the test again.
14:04 It'll be on a rolling road dyno
14:06 and I'll be keen to see what the result is.
14:07 If it's the same, I think it's pretty conclusive
14:10 that the big old 33s are probably sapping a little bit
14:13 of energy from the whole package,
14:15 but I was pretty impressed with how the V6 diesel
14:17 and the four cylinder went.
14:18 So we have a question here from Facebook.
14:21 Harvey Adifan has left us some Facebook stars.
14:25 So really appreciate that, mate.
14:26 He's come up with a message.
14:28 Hey, Paul, I was just wondering,
14:29 do you have any idea when it's gonna be out in Canada?
14:32 Look, with the North American rollout,
14:35 when we were at Love Day,
14:37 which is the off-road facility Ford was testing
14:40 at earlier in the year that I had a chance to tag along to,
14:42 they actually had an F-150 Raptor.
14:44 They had a number of high-level executives
14:47 from Ford's sort of North American operations.
14:51 What they were doing is getting to the point
14:53 where they were figuring out whether Ranger Raptor
14:55 meets the DNA that they've set with F-150 Raptor.
14:58 And no doubt that is to make sure as well
15:00 that it works for the US market.
15:01 So I think a launch in the US is imminent.
15:04 Ford has already announced that they're taking
15:05 the Ranger Raptor to the Baja 1000,
15:08 and they've entered the sort of stock class.
15:11 So the fact that they're actually going to that effort
15:13 is probably going to lead into the launch of this
15:15 for the States.
15:16 And I think when this launches in the States,
15:18 it's gonna go gangbusters because the States
15:20 is gonna mean a lot of open doors for tuners.
15:23 It will really just go to town on making this more
15:25 of an F-150 Raptor sibling
15:27 than the current Ranger is over there.
15:29 So I suspect Canada will be included
15:31 in that rollout shortly after.
15:32 My tip is 2023, early 2023, but let's see what happens.
15:36 They have been pretty slow with news on the US.
15:38 So my fingers and toes are crossed
15:40 that you guys get it pretty soon.
15:42 Question from Facebook from Joseph Horta.
15:45 "Is it loud enough to annoy the neighbours?"
15:48 Good news is yes, it actually has,
15:50 when you switch it on, there's a setting in the menus
15:53 that allows you to start it quiet.
15:55 But when you do switch it on with a cold start,
15:57 it actually starts with the bimodal exhaust open.
15:59 So it actually makes a pretty decent racket
16:01 while you're in an apartment building.
16:02 So it actually sounds awesome in the apartment complex.
16:06 It actually sets off car alarms in Baja mode,
16:08 which I reckon is pretty cool.
16:10 That's always a good sign of a decent exhaust.
16:12 So yeah, it does sound pretty cool.
16:13 And yeah, in sport Baja,
16:16 it actually makes a lot of noise on the outside.
16:19 So if your goal is to annoy the neighbours,
16:21 then yes, definitely it will.
16:23 Let's jump over to YouTube.
16:26 Steve Towing has asked,
16:27 "3.5 tonne with a Ranger, good idea or nah?"
16:30 So I think that's probably more tailored
16:32 towards Ranger than Ranger Raptor.
16:34 Ranger Raptor has a limited towing capacity
16:36 due to the suspension.
16:38 In terms of, is it a good idea to tow?
16:40 Look, to me, I don't know,
16:41 towing 3.5 tonnes with any dual cab ute
16:44 probably isn't the best idea in the world,
16:45 simply because it is a lot of trailer weight
16:49 to be towing with a vehicle
16:50 that doesn't weigh as much as your trailer.
16:52 So that's always something worth keeping in mind.
16:55 I keep harping on about our ute test,
16:56 but we will be doing a big ute test over the next weeks
16:59 that we'll release video on down the track.
17:02 Part of that is actually going to be towing,
17:04 and we're taking it one step further.
17:06 While most of our competitors do these
17:07 sort of pretty dinky and average ute tests,
17:10 we are actually going to be doing
17:12 some really thorough testing
17:13 and some scientific testing as well,
17:15 so that when you go put your money down on a dual cab ute,
17:18 you're going to have a better idea
17:19 of how that ute is going to work,
17:21 especially when you're towing as well.
17:23 So that is something just to keep in mind
17:25 that you really wanna be on top of that.
17:28 Anthony, a lion forever donated 99 cents through a super chat.
17:33 Thank you, mate, appreciate that.
17:36 So over to YouTube with Puneet Kumar,
17:38 how's the exhaust sound?
17:39 So I mentioned earlier, sounds awesome.
17:41 I think they've done a really good job with it.
17:43 Herod Performance did some work
17:44 on the Baja 1000 Ranger Raptor that they're setting up.
17:47 So I'll be interested to see how that goes,
17:49 because Herod has been tinkering in that,
17:53 and if Rob is as good as I know that he is,
17:58 he's probably gonna go to town on Ranger Raptor as well.
18:00 I cannot wait to have a drive
18:01 with one of those with some extra power.
18:03 It is going to be colossally crazy, especially in the wet.
18:07 Haider Ascari asked, what plates did you end up getting?
18:10 Hey, by the way, if you have any ideas
18:13 of registration plates, custom registration plates,
18:16 I should get for my Ranger Raptor,
18:19 please send them through in the comment section.
18:22 So keep in mind in Victoria, it has to be six characters,
18:25 and it has to be available,
18:26 and you can check availability at,
18:28 what is it, customplates.com.au, I think,
18:31 or is it vplates.com.au?
18:33 I should know this.
18:33 No, one of those, but if it is available,
18:36 please let me know in that comment section there.
18:39 Thank you again, Anthony,
18:40 for donating through Super Chat.
18:43 Appreciate that, mate.
18:44 So I actually had a set of plates picked out,
18:47 and long story short, and I'll tell this story one day,
18:50 but today is not the right day.
18:53 The PC police came in and basically I had
18:56 to change the plates, so I've had to go
18:58 with another set of plates, unfortunately.
19:00 The other set, I'm sure, will be as comical,
19:02 but I still haven't locked them in,
19:03 so if you have any other ideas,
19:04 please keep them coming through.
19:06 There were some incredibly cool ideas
19:08 that were sent through on Instagram when I asked this,
19:10 but if you do have any other ideas,
19:11 shoot them through in the chat section as well.
19:14 SeaFury18 asked, is the Ranger suitable
19:19 for a mostly city life?
19:20 Most of the time, I simply commute to work,
19:22 but I want a ute that I can use for my adventure journeys.
19:25 Yeah, look, to be honest, I think this is the ultimate daily
19:30 because the ride is set up for comfort,
19:33 and the comfort set up is excellent.
19:35 So it's not like a leaf sprung ute
19:36 where you have to have a bit of load in it
19:38 for it to be comfortable.
19:39 This uses the Live Valve set up from Fox Racing,
19:41 and I think that they've really just struck
19:44 a perfect balance there in terms of the ride comfort.
19:46 And as a daily, it doesn't breach any height limits,
19:48 so like I said, I live in an apartment building,
19:50 and I'm able to fit that easy into the apartment building
19:53 without any dramas.
19:54 If you look at something like a Ram TRX,
19:56 you can't get that into most apartment buildings
19:58 because it is over height.
20:00 And in terms of a daily,
20:01 like you will have additional fuel use,
20:03 but if you're comfortable with that,
20:04 this is just as easy to park as the rest of them.
20:06 It comes with all the safety tech,
20:07 all the parking tech, all the cameras.
20:09 So it really is just the same as any other Ranger,
20:12 except with a killer engine that is really versatile
20:14 for day-to-day driving as well, so keep that in mind.
20:17 Question there from Anthony, a lion forever.
20:21 He's asked tail shaft and rocket head gasket issues
20:24 with the new Raptors, a lot of them with that issue.
20:27 Yeah, I have heard of the tail shaft issue.
20:29 I didn't think that was for Raptor.
20:31 I think that was just for V6 diesel.
20:33 If that's not the case, let me know,
20:34 especially if you're a Ford dealer,
20:35 because obviously Ford doesn't share this information
20:38 with us unless we find out and ask it.
20:40 So if you're a Ford dealer or someone that works
20:43 within Ford that has this information,
20:45 please feel free to get in touch with me on social
20:47 or shoot us an email at the website at carexpert.com.au
20:50 because if we do find out about these issues,
20:53 I can follow them up and ask them to explain
20:54 exactly what the story is there.
20:56 So yeah, I wanna get a better idea
20:58 of whether I should be investigating that or not.
21:01 I did notice that when they are idling,
21:03 they have a fairly rough idle,
21:04 and I did notice that in all of the cars I've driven,
21:09 so not just mine in particular.
21:11 So it is just worth keeping that in mind
21:14 that I'll be keen to see what happens there with this
21:17 and whether this stuff turns into an issue,
21:18 but no issues with mine just yet.
21:20 We've just had a super sticker come in from Pino Clean.
21:24 He said, "It's a hot dog with ketchup."
21:27 Bloody oath.
21:28 So thank you for shooting that through.
21:31 Ollie Knight on YouTube, "How many Raptor Rangers
21:35 "will be purely used as grocery getters
21:37 "and never touch dirt?
21:38 "I reckon a stack of them."
21:39 And I don't know if it's just 'cause I've bought one
21:41 that I'm seeing a lot on the road now,
21:43 but I'm seeing so many of them out on the road,
21:45 and it is really cool to see,
21:46 'cause every time I see one, I'm like,
21:47 "Hey, you go, you're doing good stuff there."
21:50 I reckon a lot of these will be used as a daily,
21:52 and look, I guess it's no different to buying
21:56 an SS Commodore or something and driving that as a daily.
21:58 This is kind of the same thing.
22:00 What this can do off-road is bloody incredible, though,
22:03 especially the stuff with the jumps.
22:04 So once I get my car registered,
22:06 it's currently unregistered,
22:08 I will be determined to do a jump in it
22:10 because I wanna see how well it works,
22:12 and yeah, maybe we'll give away a prize
22:14 if you can guess how high it jumps or something like that.
22:17 I'll see what we come up with.
22:19 Sam Green has asked, "When are ventilated front seats
22:23 "coming?
22:24 "Pretty disappointing it was left out of the Raptor
22:25 "and even the Wildtrak when it's an option on the Everest."
22:27 Yeah, I agree.
22:28 It's really strange because I would have thought
22:31 that would just be a logical addition.
22:33 There is a chance that the seats
22:34 aren't capable of ventilation,
22:35 and I don't know whether that's correct or not.
22:37 I need to have a proper look at them,
22:38 but I know with typically seats that have ventilation,
22:41 they have perforations in them.
22:43 So there's a picture of our seats up there.
22:44 It doesn't look like they have any perforations.
22:46 So yeah, you have to have perforations
22:48 for the air to come through.
22:49 So maybe that's something that they're still working on.
22:52 The other problem as well is they've thrown
22:53 the feature book at this,
22:54 and unfortunately when they throw the feature book at it,
22:57 it means they need to leave a little bit of room
22:59 for upgrades and stuff that come down the track
23:02 with model updates and whatever.
23:03 So look, there's a chance that is all still yet to happen,
23:07 and we will probably see ventilated seats at some point,
23:10 but I agree, it would have been nice
23:11 to see those definitely.
23:13 Question there from Jayden Basco,
23:16 would you pick a Bronco Raptor over a Ranger Raptor?
23:20 I'd love to drive the Bronco Raptor.
23:22 It looks absolutely awesome, I reckon.
23:24 And would I pick one over a Ranger Raptor?
23:26 Probably, because I'm not actually,
23:29 I don't use a ute for anything.
23:31 So yeah, so I think that, yeah,
23:35 I would probably simply go down the path of a Bronco Raptor
23:37 if I had that option.
23:38 So hopefully they will actually do that at some point.
23:40 From Facebook, Adam White said,
23:42 tail shaft was single weld spot issue
23:44 on less than 80 vehicles, confirmed from fleet dealer.
23:48 So there you go, so I think it was a limited issue.
23:50 I don't think it really stopped the whole production line,
23:52 but it was something that they identified fairly early.
23:55 So let me know if you've heard otherwise.
23:57 Happy to follow it up if that is the case.
23:59 Brock Gaming Garage mentioned,
24:02 in-car phone mic is terrible.
24:04 Sounds like a recall later to fix roof sound deadening
24:07 or similar.
24:08 That's a good point, I actually hadn't noticed that.
24:11 I made a stack of phone calls
24:12 while I was driving back from Port Macquarie,
24:14 and I didn't notice any issues with that.
24:17 So something that I will keep my eye on.
24:22 Ayush Duwadi said, Raptor or Supra,
24:24 which provides most fuel economy?
24:26 Oh, definitely the Supra.
24:27 The Supra was really efficient for a six cylinder,
24:29 also much lighter than a Raptor.
24:30 The Raptor is, I think it's like 2.4 tons or something.
24:33 So it is a whopper of a thing
24:35 by the time they make all those chassis changes.
24:37 Wally Sleeman, how many kilometres
24:39 do you get out of a full tank?
24:41 Depends how you drive.
24:44 So when we had our first press car
24:46 and I was being a bit silly
24:47 and driving like a bit of a maniac,
24:50 we ended up getting about 250 Ks out of a tank,
24:53 which isn't really a lot.
24:54 I thought it may have been a small tank,
24:56 but it turns out it was actually an enormous tank,
24:58 like 80 litres or something.
24:59 So it is just very inefficient if you're up it.
25:01 Supra is much more efficient than that.
25:03 Beastex, thank you again, mate.
25:05 Another donation there.
25:06 V8 Raptor.
25:09 Yeah, okay, I see where you're going there.
25:12 I don't know why V8 though.
25:13 It's a V6, so maybe we wish it was a V8.
25:16 I don't know, I do.
25:17 Well, maybe a V8, it'd be nice.
25:19 We'll see how it goes.
25:20 Keanu Michael Alex on YouTube.
25:23 So do the Raptors have beadlock wheels on them
25:25 or is that a cosmetic thing?
25:26 Okay, good question.
25:27 So I ordered mine with the beadlock capable rims.
25:31 What that means is that from the factory,
25:33 they have a rim on the car that is beadlock capable.
25:36 They are heavier per corner.
25:37 They are delivered to the customer with a dress ring on them.
25:40 So that is what you see on the car.
25:42 It makes it look like it has a smaller wheel,
25:43 but it is actually just a dress ring around it.
25:45 You have to then buy an accessory kit for the beadlocks
25:49 in addition to that.
25:49 So the actual option was like 1500 bucks
25:52 or something like that.
25:53 You then have to buy the accessory kit
25:55 to fit the beadlocks to it.
25:57 You then can't drive on public roads with beadlocks fitted.
26:00 They're illegal.
26:01 So you have to get to your destination,
26:02 fit the beadlocks to the vehicle and then drive off road.
26:06 So that is worth keeping in mind.
26:08 It's not actually a legal thing to have.
26:11 So Rod Clark on YouTube,
26:15 what is Ford Australia after sales service like?
26:18 Good question.
26:19 I'm very keen to find out because I don't know,
26:22 I've heard mixed things and I'll be keen to see
26:24 what it's actually like for me.
26:26 Service I had from Medici Ford was sensational.
26:29 And look, obviously I'm coming in,
26:31 we're filming stuff there.
26:32 They have an incentive to be great.
26:33 But just based on the feedback I've seen
26:35 about that dealership,
26:36 they care a lot about the customers
26:39 and the fact that they are reasonable
26:40 with dealer delivery fees means
26:42 they're looking after a customer
26:43 that is going to eventually come back.
26:45 I just don't get some of these dealers at the moment
26:47 who charge these like excessive fees
26:50 and then expect a person to come back later on.
26:52 It's just never gonna happen.
26:54 Now, earlier I mentioned how you can get
26:56 your Ranger Raptor earlier.
26:58 Now, I just wanna explain what I meant by that.
27:01 And how I kind of want you guys to behave
27:06 if you are shopping for a Ranger Raptor.
27:09 The way it works with Ford dealers,
27:10 they get a certain allocation of Ranger Raptor
27:13 depending on how many utes they sell previously.
27:17 So some dealers, if they sell lots of utes,
27:19 they will get a higher percentage of Raptor allocation.
27:22 Whereas some dealers that sell less utes
27:23 will get a lower percentage of Raptor allocation.
27:26 When we filmed our delivery video,
27:29 Medici Ford actually had a few Raptors up there
27:31 on the sleeve and you were able to call them
27:34 to go and get your Raptor much sooner
27:37 than any other city dealerships today.
27:39 I got a text message from the sales manager there
27:42 and he mentioned that that's not the case anymore.
27:45 So what you need to be doing is think along the lines
27:48 of the Ford dealership at Port Macquarie.
27:50 You need to be calling regional dealers.
27:52 And when you think about it,
27:53 regional dealers will typically sell utes
27:55 at a greater volume than some city dealers.
27:57 City dealers will have a larger allocation
27:59 as in volume wise, but they also have much more demand
28:03 because your dealership is servicing a smaller PMA.
28:05 So my advice for getting a Raptor earlier
28:07 based on what I understand of their system
28:10 and their allocations is to go to a country dealer.
28:12 Based on the allocations I've seen
28:14 with Ford's dealership there in Port Macquarie,
28:17 they were looking at August deliveries
28:19 or July, August deliveries next year
28:20 if you were to order today,
28:21 which is much better than what I'm hearing
28:23 at some dealers, which was a year or even two years away.
28:26 To complicate things a little bit,
28:27 Ford has upped the price of the entire Ranger lineup
28:31 from March 2023 production.
28:33 So if you do have a vehicle ordered,
28:34 if it hasn't been built by March 2023,
28:37 you are going to have to pay more.
28:39 Now, you don't have to pay more.
28:40 You can cancel your order and they will refund the order
28:42 plus any deposits that you've made,
28:44 but you will have to pay more
28:45 if you do want the vehicle delivered.
28:46 Costs of doing business are going up, unfortunately.
28:49 There are some changes to Ranger Raptor though
28:51 from March 2023 build.
28:53 Instead of the spray and bed liner that my car has,
28:56 you'll actually get the plastic insert bed liner
28:58 that you're finding in the rest of the Ranger lineup,
29:01 such as Sport, and I think Wildtrak has it as well.
29:04 You will also be able to fit the roller cover to it.
29:06 And the advantage of buying that from factory
29:08 is that you'll get a key with a button for the roller cover.
29:10 You also get integration into the tray
29:12 for the roller cover as well.
29:13 So you can fit it as an aftermarket accessory,
29:15 but to get the key and all that sort of stuff,
29:17 it is better to order it from the dealer direct.
29:19 Question from YouTube from Mitchell Martin,
29:23 Ford Ranger Raptor versus Holden Colorado V8
29:26 that was cancelled, classic Ford versus Holden.
29:28 Yeah, look, I remember they sort of did,
29:33 was it Vulcan Shore that did the V8 concept?
29:37 I think it had an LSA in it as well,
29:39 and you could actually get an LSA conversion
29:41 through Harrop as well from memory.
29:43 So yes, that would have been cool,
29:45 but I don't know how well that would have driven
29:48 because a V8 in something like that would be kind of crazy.
29:52 Well, actually the current generation is crazy
29:54 with the twin turbo V6,
29:55 maybe a V8 wouldn't have been that bad, who knows.
29:58 Luca Gurgit sent 99 stars, thank you mate.
30:02 Can a P-plater from Victoria drive the Raptor?
30:04 Hey, that is an excellent question.
30:06 Sean, who is our other video man,
30:08 who is managing our questions at the moment,
30:10 I'm going to ask him to look that up
30:11 and then send it to me on my screen here.
30:13 There is a website there where you can actually check that.
30:16 I'm very curious to know because power to weight
30:18 is what limits P-platers from driving
30:20 these vehicles in Victoria,
30:22 given it weighs a lot, but it still has a lot of power.
30:25 I'm wondering if it is under the limit.
30:26 So I will check that and I'll get Sean
30:28 to send me a little message here so we can find out.
30:31 Question from Zachary Nguyen on YouTube,
30:35 any mods for the Ranger?
30:36 Look, with my last cars, I've kept them pretty stock.
30:38 I had aftermarket wheels on the Supra,
30:41 I've kept the Tesla stock.
30:44 I think I'll probably keep this stock as well.
30:46 If Herod Performance does some kind of power kit for it,
30:50 that might change my mind, we'll see,
30:52 but I'll keep it stock for the moment.
30:54 Question from Justin on Facebook.
30:58 Now, Justin knows the Ranger Raptor well
31:00 because he engineered the car.
31:02 So he's asked when I'm going to take my car to Baja.
31:05 My answer to that is, Justin,
31:07 I'd prefer to take your car to Baja,
31:08 the one that you've engineered with a roll cage and stuff.
31:11 So invitation is open, my friend.
31:13 So you know how to get in touch with me.
31:16 Question from, now I think this is a good
31:19 fellow Yugoslavian, Dushan, Raptor or GWM Cannon?
31:24 Ooh, that's a tough one.
31:25 Look, for me, it's the Raptor.
31:28 They are very closely compared though, obviously.
31:31 Same power outputs and stuff like that.
31:33 No, but in all seriousness, GWM Cannon,
31:36 we're going to be testing that
31:38 as part of the Ute test next week.
31:39 So I'll be keen to see how that goes.
31:41 An answer to your question,
31:43 I think it was Luca that asked it,
31:44 on P-PLATER compatibility.
31:46 Yes, two thumbs up.
31:48 You can drive a Ranger Raptor
31:50 on your P-PLATES in Victoria.
31:51 So yee-haw, have fun with that.
31:54 I think that will be very good fun
31:56 for someone that is on their P's.
31:59 Ahmed asked, will you be adding some sort of Tonneau cover?
32:02 I'm actually going to ask you guys,
32:03 what have you done to your Ranger Raptors
32:06 or even your Rangers if you haven't gone
32:07 for the electric cover?
32:08 Because it is open at the moment.
32:10 I don't really want to spend three and a half grand
32:11 on the electric cover,
32:12 'cause it won't be sort of like a factory fit thing.
32:15 So I'm keen to get your feedback on that.
32:16 What are you guys doing to cover it up?
32:20 Do you care?
32:21 What happens with the water in there?
32:22 I don't even know what happens.
32:23 Seep out, who knows?
32:24 I'll be keen to see what the actual story is with that.
32:27 So let me have a quick look
32:28 at what else everyone has said here.
32:30 So there was a question there.
32:32 Do you know if any manufacturers are making a bull bar
32:35 for the new T60?
32:37 I think that is T60 Ute, the old EV.
32:40 Good question.
32:41 I'd have a look at the aftermarket for that,
32:42 or even ARB.
32:44 When they changed the design,
32:45 it kind of went a bit skew-iff.
32:46 So it's probably going to affect anyone
32:49 that had made accessories on that.
32:50 So we're keen to see what the story is there.
32:52 Any news on the ARB Ford partnership add-ons
32:55 and their ETA for commercial sale from II Reader?
32:59 Look, that is currently on the go.
33:00 So that's done through your dealership
33:02 or through ARB directly.
33:04 This is another one where dealers
33:05 are trying to gouge customers.
33:06 You don't have to pay any extra for any ARB accessories
33:10 that you buy through a Ford dealer
33:11 that get fitted to your vehicle.
33:13 The advantage of buying it through a Ford dealer
33:15 is that it's then covered by your new vehicle warranty.
33:17 Disadvantage of going direct to ARB
33:19 is you don't get coverage under your new vehicle warranty.
33:22 But then I've heard some dealers charging like 5%
33:24 on top of all the costs, which is just ridiculous.
33:27 So keep that in mind.
33:28 Only other downside to doing it through the dealer
33:30 is that if you are subject to stamp duty,
33:33 luxury car tax, or anything like that,
33:36 you will have to pay that on top of the accessories as well.
33:38 So that is worth keeping in mind.
33:40 Any plans for more Everest videos from Deepak?
33:43 Yes, and I'm gonna ask Igor behind the camera here,
33:46 what did we review?
33:47 Was it an Everest Sport or a Trend?
33:49 Recently, the other Everest.
33:52 We did an Everest Platinum.
33:54 I think it was an Everest Sport 'cause it had all terrains.
33:56 Anyway, this is me not remembering what we were doing.
34:00 But yes, Deepak, we have another Everest review coming soon.
34:03 And we also sent it up the same hill
34:05 that the Platinum didn't really get up all that well.
34:07 So keep an eye out for that.
34:10 Kian asked, do you plan on doing any ADAS mega test?
34:15 Look, we would like to.
34:19 It's just a little hard to organise,
34:21 just 'cause we need to get an inflatable car.
34:23 I have no idea what the specs are for those.
34:25 And yeah, it's something that I would love to be able to do,
34:27 but still TBC, maybe ANCAP can lend us theirs.
34:30 I don't know, probably not in their good books
34:32 at the moment, we'll see what happens.
34:33 What else have we got here?
34:37 Okay, so Musabe asked on YouTube,
34:41 is the plastic thing in the bed liner
34:43 better than a sprayed one?
34:45 I don't know actually.
34:46 This plastic liner that they have in the bed liner
34:49 just seems to be, it's just a plastic insert
34:52 of some description.
34:53 I guess the advantage is you could take that out
34:55 before you sell the vehicle so that it's clean and empty,
34:57 whereas the spray in bed liner is gonna be hard to fix
34:59 if you have any dramas with it.
35:00 So I'm not entirely sure what the best
35:03 sort of workaround is there.
35:05 On Facebook, question from Jason Reid.
35:07 Hi Paul, have you heard of Ford dropping the aluminium colour
35:10 on the 2023 Ranger Raptor?
35:12 No, I haven't heard that.
35:13 But I have seen an aluminium Ranger Raptor
35:17 and it looks sensational, especially with tinted windows.
35:20 So I do hope they keep it
35:21 'cause I think it actually looks really good.
35:23 200 series Land Cruiser or Raptor
35:27 from Wade Robinson on Facebook.
35:30 Look, I don't know, I thought, to me, tech is important
35:34 and the old Land Cruiser and the new one
35:36 aren't really sort of too crash hot in terms of tech.
35:39 So for me, I'd be going down the path of the Ranger,
35:41 but ultimately, if you want that comfort
35:44 and stuff like that, you can't beat a Land Cruiser
35:45 for long distance driving and all that sort of stuff.
35:47 So yeah.
35:49 What else have we got here?
35:52 Are you going to compare 18 inch wheels versus 20 inch
35:55 on Everest, which one is better option in your opinion?
35:57 That's from Kunal.
35:58 Yes, we actually did, as part of the next Everest video
36:01 that's gonna go live, we actually did a video
36:04 on our off-road course that compared those tyres.
36:07 So you can have a look at that and see how the two performed.
36:10 There was a difference, but I'll leave it up to you
36:12 to decide exactly what that looks like to you.
36:15 Okay, so Paradoxical has asked,
36:20 have you experienced any problems
36:21 or pet peeves with the Raptor yet?
36:23 No on both counts, but long story short,
36:28 my car is currently unregistered
36:29 and sitting in the car park here at work
36:31 and will be for at least the next two weeks.
36:33 There is a backlog at VicRoads for vehicle inspections.
36:36 There was then some issues with registration
36:39 I was using to drive around in and stuff like that,
36:42 which I'm sorting out at the moment,
36:43 but I haven't actually spent some proper time
36:45 in the car outside of the highway drive.
36:46 So I put 12 or 13, no, 1400 Ks on it now.
36:49 So, but that was all mainly highway driving.
36:52 We then had to do like a run down a dirt road
36:54 'cause there was a crash on the Hume,
36:55 but that's all still sort of still happening
36:57 in the background.
36:58 Dave asked, what am I thinking of buying next?
37:03 That is a good question.
37:04 So if anyone follows me on Instagram,
37:08 we had the chance to go over to Perth
37:10 to catch up with one of our investors who is a billionaire.
37:13 And we had a chance to drive some of his cars
37:15 and he has some insane stuff.
37:18 So check out my Instagram if you wanna see
37:21 some of the stuff that he has.
37:22 And I think perhaps I need to aim a little higher next time
37:25 in terms of what I'm looking for.
37:26 I can see some pretty unreal cars.
37:29 The true creator has asked,
37:31 will there eventually be a long range fuel tank for Raptor?
37:34 I do hope so.
37:35 80 litres is pretty small for fun driving.
37:39 When we had a chance to look underneath the Ranger Raptor
37:42 during pre-delivery, there was stacks of room there.
37:45 So I think eventually we will see more coming
37:48 in terms of Ranger Raptor long range tank
37:51 and that kind of thing.
37:52 So we'll keep an eye on that.
37:53 Now, what else have we got here?
37:56 Oh my God, the questions are absolutely flying in.
37:59 Okay, question there from Adam White.
38:00 This is a good one.
38:01 Do you think the standard KO2s are swapping to something
38:03 with better traction and dual use like the Wild Peaks?
38:08 Yeah, I don't love the KO2s in the wet.
38:10 They have no traction at all.
38:13 That is when you are sort of on it
38:16 and trying to be a bit of a hero,
38:18 but if you drive sensibly, they're kind of okay.
38:21 Would I swap the tyres?
38:22 Look, my faith lies with engineering teams at car companies.
38:26 And when they engineer a tyre for a car,
38:28 that is the most optimal setup a car is ever gonna have.
38:31 When I start changing things around myself,
38:33 like tyre pressures or tyres,
38:34 it kind of upsets that balance.
38:36 So to me as an engineer,
38:37 I kind of just appreciate what they do
38:39 and try and stick with it.
38:40 But I may look at that.
38:41 I'll see what it's like to drive with as a daily.
38:43 And if it is sketchy in any situations,
38:45 I might look at changing those tyres out for another set.
38:48 Yeah.
38:50 So YouTube, Obi 132,
38:52 which damper setting is supposed to be softer,
38:54 off-road or normal?
38:56 I don't know actually.
38:57 That's gonna be a good question
38:58 for my good friend, Justin at Ford,
39:00 the engineer of the Raptor,
39:03 because to me, I don't really feel a great deal
39:06 of difference between the settings.
39:07 The difference you find with the settings
39:10 is how it responds to jounce and also full compression
39:15 and full extension, that kind of thing.
39:18 It is how it's able to handle those situations.
39:21 And I think that that's where the main difference lies.
39:23 To me, I didn't feel a huge amount of difference.
39:26 It's not like an A45 AMG where comfort is kind of comfortable
39:31 and then Sport Plus breaks you back.
39:32 So I didn't notice that much of a difference.
39:35 Brett Mason has asked,
39:36 how do you fold down the rear armrest?
39:38 Yes, it is a little bit technical.
39:39 It's not just a case of pulling.
39:40 You actually have to lift it up a little bit
39:42 and then pull it backwards.
39:43 So there is kind of like a funny mechanism there to do that.
39:46 So it takes just a little bit of fiddling with.
39:49 Eddie on Facebook has asked,
39:51 how do you rate the sound system in the Raptor
39:53 compared to the Tesla?
39:55 Look, the Tesla is worlds ahead of it
39:57 in terms of the sound system.
39:58 It is a B&O Play sound system,
40:00 so bang on all of some play.
40:02 It has a subwoofer behind the second row.
40:05 It is a good sound system for a dual cab ute
40:07 and probably the best standard sound system
40:09 in a dual cab ute,
40:10 but it's definitely not at the level
40:11 of some of the higher end cars
40:13 or even a Tesla for that matter.
40:14 So yeah, don't expect it to blow your head off,
40:17 but it is a good sound system
40:18 for the purposes of a dual cab ute.
40:21 Billy Arm A has asked on YouTube,
40:25 will they have fold down gear shifter
40:27 to make a table like F-150?
40:29 No, not at this stage.
40:31 The gear shifter is a rotary style.
40:34 Sorry, it's a sort of the style
40:37 that sort of moves backwards and forwards.
40:39 So it doesn't really have anywhere to fold into
40:41 like the F-150 does,
40:42 but I think that would be a cool feature
40:43 to have some of those cool sort of bits and pieces
40:47 out of F-150.
40:48 They did integrate some other cool stuff
40:50 like the blind spot monitor
40:51 integrates the length of the trailer as well.
40:54 So I think that's a pretty cool feature
40:56 and the fact that you can actually get
40:58 just a little bit of extra safety around that
41:00 I think is pretty good too.
41:02 Leo has asked on Facebook,
41:04 what is the Raptor like in terms of ride comfort
41:06 and body roll?
41:07 Is it better than the Wildtrak?
41:08 Look, the ride comfort is definitely better.
41:12 In terms of body roll,
41:13 if you have a look at our Ranger Raptor review on YouTube,
41:15 when we go for a bit of a punt around the track,
41:18 has a bit of body roll,
41:18 but it's all very much in check.
41:20 When you do sort of get stuck into it
41:23 and sort of get it into a corner,
41:25 it starts rolling, but it holds itself really nicely.
41:28 Everything it does is super predictable as well.
41:31 So it means that when you do go for a bit of a punt,
41:34 it's never gonna do anything too surprising.
41:37 That all changes when it rains
41:38 because those tires really are the weak point in the wet
41:41 and you need to be extra careful
41:42 because yeah, it just doesn't have a huge amount
41:45 of traction there in the wet.
41:48 George Halloway asked on YouTube,
41:49 "Would you prefer your Raptor or a TRX?"
41:51 Look, I'd love a TRX.
41:53 Don't get me wrong any day of the week,
41:54 but I don't know,
41:55 just the idea of converting a car to right-hand drive,
41:59 I don't love.
41:59 I haven't driven the official TRX
42:02 that was converted in Australia to right-hand drive.
42:05 So I'm hoping the steering feel feels better
42:08 than the last one that we did.
42:09 I'm keen to have a shot of that,
42:11 so we'll see how that goes.
42:13 Oscar Wyer on YouTube has asked,
42:15 "Can you use this car for storm chasing in Australia?"
42:17 Yeah, I reckon it'd be good to get away from storms.
42:20 It wouldn't be any drama there.
42:21 I wouldn't be driving it through anything too deep, though.
42:22 I think 800 mil wading depth,
42:24 don't exceed that 'cause you'll get stuck.
42:26 Carl Hakem on YouTube has asked,
42:28 "How long did it take delivery
42:30 "after receiving this shipping confirmation from Ford?"
42:33 Look, it took a little while.
42:34 The problem was, ship left Thailand, came to Australia,
42:37 had a number of stops along the way.
42:40 Then once it gets here,
42:41 customs have been very slow clearing cars,
42:44 and we've heard this from a number
42:45 of different manufacturers.
42:46 It then goes to a holding yard
42:48 and then gets shipped to the dealer,
42:49 potentially via another holding yard as well.
42:51 So it's a little bit annoying,
42:53 but it does take a little while, unfortunately.
42:55 But you can track ships online,
42:56 so just type the name of the ship into Google
42:58 and it will come up there.
43:00 Anthony P. was, "The first thing you drew
43:02 "on the drawing screen, a penis
43:04 "in the horizontal or vertical orientation?"
43:07 Yes, it is a great little screen to draw on
43:11 because you can do stupid things
43:13 like drawing a penis on there.
43:14 And just for the record, I did horizontal,
43:16 just so it was a little more realistic
43:17 in terms of matching up.
43:18 Shazwin asked, "Are you going to compare it
43:22 "to its competitors in the off-road course?"
43:24 Yes, so that is something that we're going to be doing
43:26 as part of our off-road test
43:28 that we're doing in the next couple of weeks.
43:30 Oh my God, the questions are flying through.
43:31 So if you want your question read first,
43:34 make sure you use Super Thanks on YouTube or Facebook stars
43:38 because I will get to that first.
43:39 It'll pop up on my screen here ahead of the others.
43:42 And Igor's gonna play you some video footage
43:44 of the Raptor during pre-delivery now as well.
43:47 Christopher Holden on YouTube,
43:48 "You should do track tests on utes as well."
43:51 Yes, I'm working on a story idea
43:54 that has been poo-pooed by some people,
43:57 but I'm working on something.
43:59 So that is happening slowly.
44:02 Omar has asked, "I get my Raptor 3rd of December.
44:05 "Can't wait.
44:06 "Can I add a front winch without changing front bumper?"
44:09 Hmm, that is a good question.
44:11 I know that ARB supports winches
44:14 and also different features there as well.
44:16 So let me see if I can find an answer to that
44:19 because I do hope that that whole system
44:22 has been readied for integration with winches.
44:25 Okay, so I have an answer from my friend, Justin,
44:28 who is the boss man for Ranger Raptor at Ford.
44:32 He said, "Normal is softer than off-road.
44:35 "Off-road is tuned for higher speed off-road
44:37 "and is more aggressive than normal mode."
44:41 So yeah, that is worth keeping in mind.
44:44 And the cool thing is with Ranger Raptor as well,
44:46 on the steering wheel,
44:47 you actually adjust your suspension, steering,
44:49 and drive mode settings with buttons on the steering wheel.
44:52 So that's pretty cool.
44:53 And I actually have a question for everyone,
44:55 anyone that has had their Ranger Raptor delivered.
44:58 How do you hang up on a phone call?
45:00 I cannot figure out how to do that.
45:02 So every single time I have to ask the other person
45:05 to hang up on the phone call.
45:06 There's no button on the steering wheel
45:08 to answer or hang up a phone call.
45:10 So if you know how to do that,
45:12 please send it through in the comments section.
45:14 So yeah.
45:16 Anthony P. asked on YouTube, on a more serious note,
45:18 "Are you going to cover the tray with something?"
45:19 Yeah, I mentioned earlier that I would like to,
45:21 but I don't know what options are out there.
45:23 I don't really wanna go down the path
45:24 of the electric cover as well,
45:25 but I would like to cover it with something.
45:28 Zachary Nguyen, "Will there be a potential drag race
45:30 "between different trucks?"
45:32 Oh, I wonder what will happen next week
45:35 at our ute comparison when we have all of the dual cab utes
45:38 on sale in Australia.
45:40 (laughs)
45:41 Keep an eye out for that video.
45:42 Descend on YouTube, "Most high performance four-wheel drives
45:45 "need at least 20 inch wheels to fit larger brake calipers
45:48 "like the Defender V8.
45:50 "How does Raptor only need 17 inch wheels?"
45:53 That is because I don't think it's been engineered
45:55 for a brutal braking session.
45:57 So as part of our filming that we do at Lang Lang,
46:02 we basically have a little course set up
46:04 and I do the same sequence of events for every single car.
46:07 And that gives me a great benchmark
46:09 for braking capacity and capability.
46:12 I'll try that in English.
46:13 Ranger Raptor was okay, but I could feel the pedals
46:17 starting to fade near the end of our testing.
46:20 What does that compare to?
46:21 So Bentley Bentayga, the brakes on that were terrible
46:25 and that had a great deal of brake fade
46:27 after a few hot laps in our filming session.
46:30 Other cars that we've had brake fade in,
46:31 Mitsubishi Triton, quite bad brake fade.
46:34 So it isn't amazing in terms of the braking capacity.
46:38 The braking capacity could be better
46:39 and if you are gonna be doing any faster driving,
46:42 you're gonna wanna upgrade the brakes.
46:44 And they probably don't need a great deal done to them,
46:46 but you can see that it takes up pretty much
46:47 that entire area inside the alloy wheels.
46:51 So I'd probably upgrade the brakes
46:53 if you're not gonna be doing any sort of crazy driving.
46:56 Luca on Facebook, "Thank you for the stars, mate.
46:58 "Will you be opening a Raptor club
47:00 "so we can all do day outings with Raptors only?"
47:03 You know what, I've suggested to Ford now a few times
47:06 that they really need to do like an M Performance Club
47:09 or something similar with Ford stuff
47:11 because if you own a Ranger Raptor,
47:14 you need to be able to go and drive it somewhere.
47:16 You need to experience what I experienced at Love Day
47:19 when we did hot laps in the engineering cars
47:21 with roll cages.
47:22 Once you are in that car driving
47:25 at a million trillion miles an hour like they were,
47:27 you really begin to appreciate the engineering
47:29 that's gone into this
47:30 and why this is more than just a sticker pack
47:33 and why it is such a good ute
47:35 that I think is actually good value for money
47:37 when you consider what you're getting.
47:38 So that is worth keeping in mind.
47:40 Okay, so we're almost out of time.
47:42 I'm gonna answer as many of these as I can.
47:44 Matthew Hayen has asked,
47:48 "Heard any more from Roush or Herod Performance
47:51 "performance packs with drive-on warranty?"
47:53 So yeah, I mentioned earlier the Baja 1000 Raptor
47:55 that they released a little while back
47:57 and you can see that on my Facebook profile.
47:58 There's pictures of it there.
47:59 That had a Herod Performance sticker on it.
48:02 Knowing how good Rob is with all that stuff,
48:05 I think that he's probably working
48:06 on some pretty awesome stuff with Ranger Raptor.
48:08 And if it's like the Mustang,
48:09 it'll have factory backing as well.
48:11 So keep an eye on that.
48:13 Matt has asked on YouTube,
48:15 "When's the Coyote engine swap coming?"
48:17 Look, a lot of people go, "Oh, it needs a V8."
48:20 It genuinely doesn't.
48:21 In Baja mode, this has anti-lag.
48:23 It is way more responsive than any V8 on the market
48:27 and it is just an absolute beast to drive
48:30 when it is in that Baja mode.
48:31 So I don't think it needs a V8
48:34 and a V8 would make it heavier over the front end,
48:36 especially, potentially a little less responsive as well.
48:40 So yeah, I don't think it needs that.
48:42 Rest assured, it is awesome.
48:45 Emerson O'Shea on YouTube has asked,
48:46 "What's your favorite dual cab ute?"
48:48 Raptor doesn't count.
48:49 Look, I love a Ram or the Silverado,
48:53 the updated Silverado, but Ram 1500,
48:55 I reckon is just an absolute pearler.
48:57 Really big fan of that.
48:59 Outside of that, the rest of the Ranger stuff
49:00 is pretty good as well.
49:01 So, Teenie4, thank you for your donation
49:06 on YouTube with Super Chat with a question there.
49:09 PixelatedHippo chomps on one up.
49:13 I don't know what any of that means.
49:15 Right, it's a sticker.
49:17 Okay, that's why that makes no sense at all.
49:19 Yeah, so Teenie has also followed up by saying,
49:23 "Weet-Bix is now smaller in weight and size
49:25 "with same price, much like a Hilux."
49:30 Okay, so Omar on YouTube, "There are six aux switches.
49:34 "What are you planning on using them for?"
49:37 Look, I also bought something else from it.
49:39 I haven't really told many people about yet,
49:40 so I'll have more on that soon,
49:42 but maybe I can have one of those switches
49:44 firing some guns that are associated with my other car.
49:47 So I'll have some interesting content on that soon.
49:52 Okay, second last question.
49:53 So if you do want to have the last question,
49:56 send through a Super Chat or Stars on Facebook
49:58 and I'll answer that.
50:00 Brett Hall has asked on Facebook,
50:02 "What sort of competition is there
50:04 "for the Raptor at the moment?"
50:06 None.
50:07 Nothing is competition.
50:09 If you have a look at everything else,
50:10 they're all sticker packs or very mild changes
50:13 to existing products.
50:15 Nothing will compete with the Ranger Raptor at the moment
50:17 in terms of how it performs
50:19 and just how crazy it is to drive
50:21 when you are in the right conditions.
50:23 I'm hoping that changes because more competition here
50:25 will force Ford to work harder in the future.
50:28 But at the moment, this is such a versatile pickup truck
50:31 that it would really be hard for someone
50:33 to come up with something overnight.
50:34 So I have heard that Hilux
50:36 is going to have something like this
50:37 and Toyota's working on something,
50:38 but whether it actually eventuates is something to be seen
50:43 because they really need to go hard with it
50:45 and Toyota is typically pretty conservative.
50:47 So, okay, last question before I have to go
50:50 and do other stuff.
50:52 Let's have a look.
50:53 I'll pick one from the screen here.
50:54 (humming)
50:56 Oh, actually, yeah, I'll mention this one.
51:03 Michael Erasmus, big fan.
51:05 He said, "I'm a big fan from South Africa.
51:07 Well done on your content."
51:08 Mate, I'm going to be coming to South Africa very soon.
51:13 I'll be there for the launch of the new Volkswagen Amarok.
51:17 So that is happening in Cape Town.
51:18 So cannot wait for that.
51:20 And hopefully we'll bump into some
51:21 of our South African viewers
51:24 and you'll be able to see a review
51:25 on the new Volkswagen Amarok.
51:28 Almost called a Ranger Amarok.
51:30 You'll be able to see a review
51:31 on the new Volkswagen Amarok in the coming weeks
51:33 once the embargo lifts for that.
51:35 But cannot wait to head over to South Africa
51:37 and have a cruise of that pretty soon as well
51:39 and see how different it is to the Ranger in that sense.
51:43 So, all right, Oscar, you asked nicely.
51:46 Please do my question, please.
51:47 He's asked, "Do you sell cars?
51:49 If a car brand is only plug-in hybrid,
51:51 could you get fuel instead?
51:53 Do you have a car shop?
51:55 If yes, what is it called?"
51:56 No, we don't sell cars.
51:58 So, no need to worry about that.
51:59 But if you do head to carexpert.com.au,
52:01 we have reviews of everything.
52:03 We also have the real pricing report,
52:06 which gives you an idea
52:06 of how much cars are actually selling for,
52:09 so you don't overpay.
52:10 And we can also hook you up with a dealer as well
52:12 who will hopefully get you a better deal on a new car.
52:14 So carexpert.com.au.
52:16 Thank you so much, everyone, for tuning in.
