You guys asked for it, so I wanted to answer it! How much power and torque does the new Ford Ranger make at the wheels? We strapped the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor V6, the 2023 Ford Ranger Wildtrak V6 and the 2023 Ford Ranger Wildtrak bi-turbo to a rolling road dyno to get the results. And we found them pretty surprising!

We need to give a big shout out to Jason at LS1PWR for helping us with the dyno runs. You can check out his business at https://www.facebook.com/Ls1pwrPerformanceTuning/

00:00 G'day, I'm Paul.
00:09 So in the background there is a dyno, a dynamometer.
00:12 Today what we're trying to do is figure out exactly how much power and torque the new
00:15 Ranger Raptor, the V6 diesel Ranger and also the four-cylinder diesel Ranger makes at the
00:21 wheels because I've just driven that and it was bloody awesome.
00:25 So I'm keen to see exactly how much power it's putting down to the ground.
00:28 Now I've got to give you a big shout out to Jason from LS1 Power.
00:31 If you do need to have your cars tuned, a bit of work done to them, he is the man to
00:35 go to and he is running our dyno today and feeding me back everything I need to know.
00:39 We've just wrapped up with the Ranger Raptor, the V6 is currently on the dyno.
00:43 Come with me, I'll run you through the results.
00:45 OK, so let me run you through theoretically what it's meant to be achieving.
00:49 So 292 kilowatts of power and 583 newton metres of torque is the output from the engine at
00:55 the flywheel.
00:56 On the dyno we just achieved 204 kilowatts of power and about 535 newton metres of torque.
01:02 So some pretty healthy numbers there.
01:04 Just as a recap, this is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 and it was actually quite interesting
01:10 to see while it was running, there's a set of louvers down the bottom there at the front
01:14 that open and close and when he was running it in seventh gear, which is where we achieved
01:18 those numbers, the louvers were just slightly opening as the car started getting up on its
01:22 hind legs.
01:23 It sounded awesome in there as well.
01:33 So pretty impressed with the Ranger Raptor for a, I don't know, just a dual-cab ute.
01:38 It has some serious power at the wheels.
01:40 V6 is on at the moment, let's go have a look at how that's gone.
01:52 So V6 has now finished.
01:54 Just as a recap, the factory numbers are 184 kilowatts of power, 600 newton metres of torque
02:00 and that's from a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel, that's of course at the flywheel.
02:05 At the rear wheels though, it made 158.4 kilowatts and 540 newton metres of torque.
02:12 That is really impressive.
02:13 I was actually expecting this to be nowhere near as high and I think it shows you that,
02:17 I don't know if there's like an overboost feature or something that has been programmed
02:21 into this engine that's really giving that extra kick once it gets moving, because in
02:25 first gear it definitely feels torque limited.
02:27 So proves here on the dyno that it really has a fair bit of mumbo behind the wheel there.
02:31 So the four-cylinder is on the dyno now, so I'll be keen to see how that goes.
02:34 So yeah, let's go have a look.
02:50 Right, final car is now done, that was the Bi-Turbo, so as a reminder, from the factory
02:55 it is 154 kilowatts of power and 500 newton metres of torque, 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder
03:02 diesel engine.
03:03 On the dyno, it made 126.9 kilowatts of power and 460 newton metres of torque.
03:09 I'm actually really impressed with the power outputs here of the two diesel cars, they've
03:14 actually done really well and I wasn't expecting them to be that high.
03:17 So there you go.
03:18 I hope you enjoyed that quick video and you've learnt something from it.
03:22 I think for me, I'm surprised at how much power the Raptor makes at the rear wheels
03:26 and also surprised how much these two are pushing out as well.
03:35 Now before we wrap up, I need to give one final shout out to Jason from LS Power.
03:39 If you do need any work done on your V8 Commodore, he is your man.
03:43 I was pretty surprised by these numbers, so let me know what you reckon in the comments
03:46 section below.
