00:00 We have showers, rain, even some snow as we go through the rest of this afternoon,
00:04 but then Storm Ciarán is going to approach from the southwest.
00:08 The low pressure is currently here to the southwest of the UK
00:11 and it's going to rapidly deepen as it approaches us through the next few hours.
00:16 But looking at the details through the rest of this afternoon,
00:19 a band of heavy rain, some strong winds, even some hill snow across parts of Scotland.
00:23 We're talking snow above about 400 meters or so.
00:27 Elsewhere, a scattering of showers.
00:28 Some of these could be heavy, perhaps even thundery,
00:30 particularly across western parts of Northern Ireland,
00:33 some parts of Northern England into Wales and southwest England too.
00:37 Otherwise, there will be some sunny spells.
00:38 Perhaps the best of the sunshine will be across eastern parts of England.
00:42 In the north, with the cloud, the rain, the strong winds and the snow,
00:45 it's going to be feeling quite cold at times,
00:47 but further south, temperatures near normal for the time of year.
00:51 Highs around 15 Celsius here.
00:53 Later on then, Storm Ciarán is going to push its way up from the southwest.
00:57 It is going to bring some very wet and very windy weather
01:00 across the bulk of England and Wales overnight.
01:03 But the exceptionally strong winds are going to be towards the south coast.
01:07 Further north, and we are going to see some drier weather
01:10 once any initial rain overnight clears away towards the north.
01:13 And some clear skies here too across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:17 Under these clear skies, temperatures likely to take quite a dip,
01:20 so a touch of frost likely here.
01:22 But elsewhere, across the bulk of England and Wales,
01:24 a milder picture because of the unsettled weather.
01:27 Now as we go through Thursday, it is going to be very wet and very windy.
01:31 We have a number of warnings out at the moment
01:33 because we are likely to see some significant disruption.
01:36 There could be some further flooding, and there could be some damage to property,
01:40 as well as disruption to travel as well.
01:42 The rain is going to be widespread across the bulk of the UK,
01:45 pushing into eastern and southern parts of Scotland as we go through the afternoon.
01:49 And even far eastern parts of Northern Ireland may see some rain skimming here,
01:54 and this could cause some further impacts due to the recent flooding we've seen.
01:58 But further west, across the far west of Scotland,
02:00 and the far west of Northern Ireland, staying mostly dry.
02:04 Temperatures are going to be a little bit on the cool side as we go through Thursday.
02:08 That's because of the cloud, the rain, the strong winds,
02:10 and in the unsettled weather, it is going to feel quite cold too.
02:14 Storm Ciaran does then push its way towards the North Sea
02:17 as we go through the end of the day on Thursday.
02:19 Still plenty of heavy, showery rain to come for a time,
02:23 but things will start to quieten down as we go into Friday.
02:27 Now, looking at the details, like I said,
02:29 we do have a number of warnings out at the moment,
02:31 but they include two wind warnings.
02:33 We have this first one through Thursday morning affecting parts of the south west,
02:37 and then another one which is across parts of the south east as we go later on in the day.
02:42 The strong winds, if we look at the gusts, are going to push their way from west to east
02:46 as we go through the day around exposed coastal parts.
02:48 There's a risk of gusts reaching 70 to 80 miles per hour,
02:52 perhaps even in excess of 85 miles per hour.
02:55 So, it is going to be exceptionally windy,
02:57 which is why we are quite likely to see further significant impacts due to Storm Ciaran.
03:02 Now, there is more unsettled weather to come as we go into the weekend,
03:05 not as severe as due to Storm Ciaran,
03:08 but Aiden will have more information about this in our 10-day trend,
03:11 which will be available on YouTube later.
03:13 Bye-bye.
