00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We have a rain warning this evening from 10pm extending across the southern counties of
00:09England.
00:10Expect some heavy pulses as it moves in from the West Country.
00:13Notice the winds are picking up across the West Country through this evening as the rain
00:18extends from Cornwall and Devon towards Dorset and Somerset.
00:22Now we do have that rain warning across southern parts of Devon as well as Dorset extending
00:26across southern counties.
00:27You'll see some showers to follow towards the West Country as the rain spills across
00:31the Midlands as well as Wales, pushing up towards East Anglia.
00:34But notice these bright echoes here and also some stronger winds as we head into the early
00:39hours of tomorrow morning.
00:40This is where we could see up to around 40mm of rain pushing up towards Kent as well as
00:45the home counties and Essex.
00:47Ahead of it, the rain will be a bit lighter but persistent across the eastern counties
00:51of England as it clears across the western side of Wales as well as the West Country
00:56into tomorrow morning.
00:58Now let's backtrack across the rest of the country through Tuesday evening.
01:02You can see clearer skies across many areas.
01:04Still those showers though running down this east coast and certainly here there will be
01:08a bit of a breeze coming down as well.
01:11However, inland expect some clearer skies and temperatures will fall very quickly.
01:16So a fairly widespread frost for places such as Northern Ireland, central and northern
01:20areas of Scotland.
01:21There will be more clouds across southern Scotland and northern England but where you
01:25see those clearer skies, temperatures will fall, so a local frost.
01:28And also some mist and fog patches which will turn into freezing fog as we head into tomorrow
01:33morning.
01:34And they could be slow to clear, a bit stubborn in places.
01:36Now towards the south it's a cold start with a bit of a cloud and also some outbreaks of
01:40rain across the Midlands eastwards.
01:42And those winds are strong just circulating round that rain which eventually will clear
01:46towards the North Sea.
01:48But through the morning you may run into some heavier pulses as it extends across the home
01:52counties towards East Anglia.
01:54Clearer skies emerge across West Wales and in the showers just running down the Irish
01:58Sea again clipping coastal districts.
02:00But a drier day across much of Scotland, just a few showers towards the north as well as
02:03the east as that rain continues into the afternoon across eastern counties before clearing.
02:09But the winds will pick up here as well.
02:11So a windy afternoon to come, a cold wind at that.
02:14It will eventually turn drier but a legacy of clouds across southern counties.
02:17Elsewhere, once those freezing fog patches clear, you'll see some sunshine but temperatures
02:22struggling 4, 5, 6 degrees celsius, possibly up to around 10 towards the far south.
02:28Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, with this wind coming in from the north, it
02:32will deliver some showers along this east coast.
02:34Elsewhere, clearer skies and a widespread frost through Wednesday night into Thursday.
02:39That frost extending right the way down the country.
02:42So in the towns and cities, minus 2 degrees celsius, lower than that across more rural
02:47spots and yet again we'll see some freezing fog which will be slow to clear and be a fairly
02:52widespread in places as we head through Thursday morning.
02:55It will lift into low clouds and we'll hang on to some sunshine through the day across
02:59eastern counties whereas further west the cloud will thicken and you'll see eventually
03:02some rain arrive across northern Ireland as well as western parts of Wales and the west
03:07country turning a bit showery here.
03:09Temperatures though struggling yet again.
03:11As you outlook through Friday and into Saturday, this batch of showery rain tends to fizzle
03:16out as it eases eastwards.
03:18It's a breezy day if not windy on Friday, into Saturday a similar situation but look
03:22at this.
03:23We've got the oranges returning, that means milder air across many areas but it remains
03:28breezy with further showery bursts just moving in from the south west as we head through
03:32Saturday and into Sunday and the winds will pick up further as well.
03:37So that's the weather for the week ahead, certainly for the next 24 hours watch out
03:41for the rain towards the south, watch out for the frost towards the north and then we
03:45resume something a bit more near normal but breezy with some showery rain but also temperatures
03:50will recover which is good news.
03:51I'll see you later.
