00:00 Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03 Low pressure still very much in charge of our weather through Sunday evening and into
00:07 Monday with Storm Fergus moving its way across the UK overnight on Sunday. A brief ridge
00:12 of high pressure through Monday before the next system then arrives from the west into
00:16 Tuesday afternoon. We then see a very brief ridge of high pressure developing through
00:20 the middle part of the week, perhaps bringing something a little bit more settled across
00:24 much of the UK through Wednesday and Thursday.
00:28 Back to Sunday evening though and that storm, Storm Fergus, slowly pushes its way eastwards
00:32 across the UK overnight Sunday and into Monday morning, bringing some particularly heavy rain
00:37 to northern parts of England. There will also be some very strong winds across west Wales
00:41 and through the Bristol Channel we could see gusts up to 60mph here. But elsewhere it will
00:46 be turning a little bit drier through the early hours of Monday morning.
00:50 Temperatures across the southern half of the UK generally holding up around 7 or 8 degrees
00:54 but across parts of Scotland a much colder night, perhaps as low as -1 or -2.
01:00 This could lead to some icy conditions, particularly across south-western parts of Scotland through
01:04 Monday morning. But elsewhere it will be a much drier and brighter day compared to what
01:08 we've seen recently. Plenty of sunshine as we head through the afternoon but a few showers
01:13 across central and northern parts of England and along eastern coasts of Scotland as well.
01:17 Elsewhere though, a dry afternoon and plenty of sunshine and with some lighter winds compared
01:22 to what we've seen recently, it will be feeling pleasant in that sunshine, particularly across
01:25 the south. Temperatures here around 10 to 12 degrees and temperatures generally around
01:29 average across the north.
01:32 That drier weather doesn't last long though as through Monday evening we see this next
01:36 area of low pressure moving towards the UK. This will bring some heavy rain and some showers,
01:41 particularly across Northern Ireland and Wales and then into parts of northern England through
01:45 Monday night and into Tuesday. There will be some breaks in those showers, particularly
01:49 across the south-west but feeling very blustery here. And those blustery winds perhaps keeping
01:53 temperatures in the double figures across the very far south-west. Elsewhere, temperatures
01:58 generally the low to mid single figures, so a bit of a chilly night.
02:02 A very cloudy start though across much of the UK on Tuesday. That rain continues to
02:07 push its way north and eastwards into parts of eastern Scotland where it will turn particularly
02:11 heavy through the day on Tuesday. We could see some localised flooding here as that ground
02:15 is very saturated from the rain we've already seen. But further south there will be some
02:20 breaks between the showers, however those showers likely to be quite heavy at times.
02:24 With some blustery winds as well it will be feeling colder compared to Monday. Temperatures
02:28 are similar again around 10 to 12 degrees and further north generally around average
02:33 for the time of year.
02:35 That wet weather continues as we head through Tuesday and into Wednesday but those hints
02:39 of something more settled through Thursday and Friday. You can find out more about that
02:43 though by subscribing to our YouTube channel to never miss a weather update. Bye bye.
