00:18 The year of bilateral Navy to Navy exercise between the Philippines and the United States is approaching.
00:27 The exercise SAMA SAMA 2023 will last until October 13.
00:32 The training and exercise will be held in the Pasig and the Caragatan Islands
00:39 to strengthen the interoperability and cooperation between the two countries
00:45 in the field of maritime security operations, maritime situational awareness, logistics, and command and control
00:52 where sailors and marines from different units of the Philippine Navy will compete in activities
00:59 in the NCR and Naval Forces Southern Luzon.
01:02 Some assets of the country will be used in the bilateral exercise,
01:06 such as the BRP Antonio Luna, AW-109 Naval Helicopter, C-90 Aircraft and Naval Special Operations Unit.
01:15 This exercise enhances our readiness to confront the wide spectrum of security challenges.
01:24 This year, our interoperability exercises with the U.S. Navy will center on warfighting serials,
01:33 reinforcing our readiness for joint operations in the face of evolving threats.
01:40 This is something that we all sail and operate in the Maritime Commons, but the focused opportunity
01:46 the Philippines and the United States bring to the nations by doing SAMA SAMA in a very structured manner
01:53 improves our capability as a group of navies.
01:56 In the second time, Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Australia will be competing in the exercise
02:05 for the Subject Matter Expert exercise that has a connection to the Humanitarian Assistance Response.
02:11 We'll continue to work together to see where we can take this exercise.
02:14 This is just one of many exercises that we conduct in the region, but it's a very important one.
02:20 And I applaud the Philippine leadership in being willing to bring in other nations
02:25 to what was a bilateral exercise and expand it so that we learn and train with one another.
02:31 That's how you get better.
02:32 Royal New Zealand Navy and Indonesian Navy will be observers.
02:37 The Philippine Navy clearly has no connection to the war in the West Philippine Sea.
02:42 The naval exercise.
02:44 This exercise has many aspects, one of which is HADR and lectures to be conducted by subject matter experts.
02:58 It's not necessarily intended for a particular adversary.
03:06 This is strengthening our competencies, the technical competencies of our sailors and of course the marines.
03:17 Ryan Lizigas for the morning show of the country, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
