00:05 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to Five Things to Do and as we head into October proper
00:10 to face darker nights, another half term break and clocks change later in the month, there's
00:15 got to be something to look forward to hasn't there? Well yes there is because I've been
00:18 on the search for five things to do to distract you from the inevitable onslaught of winter,
00:23 so here we go. And how better to cheer us all up with some comedy. Ramesh Ranganathan
00:27 is trying out some new material at the King George's Hall in Blackburn on Wednesday the
00:32 4th of October. The actor, radio host and stand-up comedian is bringing his deadpan,
00:37 often self-deprecating humour to the North West and as a BAFTA TV award winner, this
00:42 is one not to be missed. You'll know the former teacher and freestyle rapper from shows like
00:47 The Weakest Link, The Apprentice, You're Fired and A League of Their Own and you can catch
00:51 him live for £28.50. Wrestling next as we head to the Alhambra Live
00:57 in Morecambe to witness panic stations from the team at Odyssey Pro Wrestling. It's a
01:02 family-friendly entertainment which promises non-stop action. All Odyssey Pro Wrestling
01:07 shows are inclusive to all and provide a great atmosphere for all the family. They like to
01:12 think of themselves as Morecambe's hidden gem and some of the loudest and most passionate
01:17 fan base in UK entertainment. It's on the 7th of October from 5.30pm, tickets are a
01:23 tenner on the door but there are front and second row VIP tickets available for £12.50
01:28 and £15.50 which will give you a meet and greet with the stars, a ringside photo and
01:33 the best view in the house. Now then, October of course brings Halloween
01:39 so to get you ready for that, how about some good old pumpkin picking. You can enjoy all
01:44 the family fun of the farm plus the spooky pumpkin patch at Thornton Hall Country Park
01:49 in Barnoldswick. Grab your barrow and pick up the perfect pumpkin in the mud-free and
01:54 accessible pumpkin patch with frightful photo opportunities. A weekend ticket will give
01:59 you farm tours and activities, a mini magic show, indoor soft play, outdoor play areas
02:05 and of course a visit to the pumpkin patch. There's a range of prices up to £12.95 but
02:09 head over to their website for more details on that.
02:13 And talking of Halloween, how about having your wits shredded to pieces at Farmageddon,
02:18 billed as the ultimate October fear fest. It's the North West's biggest and best
02:22 screen park and it's located just outside Ormskirk. This world-renowned, award-winning
02:27 attraction has been sending shivers down visitors' spines for years and is back and bigger and
02:32 scarier than ever. Attractions include the House of Rock dance entertainment, the zombies
02:36 on Freak Street, the maze of death and the fear go round fairground which encourages
02:42 you to enjoy the ride of your life because, they say, it could be your last.
02:46 It's on from the 8th to the 31st of October and again there's all manner of prices depending
02:51 on what you want to give you a heart attack the most so farmageddon.co.uk is where you
02:55 want to go.
02:56 And if that's not enough to send you to bed to hide until November, how about an overnight
03:02 ghost hunt in a spooky former cinema. Built in 1921, the Historic Regent Cinema in Blackpool
03:07 is said to be one of the most haunted locations in the town. Disembodied footsteps, whispers,
03:13 shadow figures, full-bodied apparitions and eerie laughter have all been reported.
03:18 And you'll join a friendly and experienced team to take part in various experiments and
03:22 seances using paranormal equipment throughout the evening.
03:26 You'll spend most of the night there between 8am and 2am in the morning, rather you than
03:30 me, and it's on Saturday nights 7th October and 16th December. Tickets are priced at £49.
03:37 Don't know about you but I think I need a lie down after all that.
03:41 Join me next time for another 5 things to do but until then have a frightful week and
03:44 I'll see you next time.
