00:03 - After only four snaps as a member of the New York Jets,
00:07 a fully ruptured Achilles tendon in that left leg.
00:11 Now, not only DRS, what are the Jets going to do?
00:15 Let's focus individually first on Aaron Rodgers.
00:19 We had this conversation yesterday with Dr. David Chow,
00:22 the pro football doc.
00:23 Aaron Rodgers is 39 years old.
00:26 He is set to turn 40 years old in the month of December.
00:30 This was year number 19 for Aaron in the National Football.
00:34 A DRS and Achilles injury, a fully torn Achilles tendon,
00:38 is something that often is insurmountable to overcome.
00:42 Dr. Chow said the competitive fire in Aaron Rodgers
00:45 is not going to let his football career
00:48 end on the turf at MetLife,
00:51 only four plays in to his tenure as a New York Jet.
00:56 But DRS, what do you think is next for Aaron Rodgers?
00:59 Will we see him play NFL games once again?
01:02 - I think we will, because, you know,
01:04 athletes like to call their own shots,
01:05 specifically guys as prominent as Aaron Rodgers.
01:08 They want to go out on their own timeframe,
01:10 which means like they're just not good enough
01:11 to play anymore, and they get cut.
01:12 They can live with that.
01:13 What they can't live with is a chance to win a championship
01:16 that gets upended after four plays into a season
01:19 and how much fun they were having doing that.
01:21 But we also have to remind ourselves,
01:23 again, not 22, 23, 24 years old,
01:25 a little bit harder to heal
01:26 when you're entering into your 40s,
01:28 which you will be this year.
01:29 And also keep in mind,
01:30 I think most people forget about this, Ben.
01:32 You don't get an ACL injury, an Achilles injury,
01:34 and say, okay, well, I'm just going to sit on the couch
01:37 for eight months, and after eight months,
01:38 I'll be rocking and rolling, ready to go.
01:39 It is such a long, tedious, and lonely recovery
01:43 for these guys, which makes it so tough to do.
01:45 Sometimes you see these injuries end careers
01:47 because the player knows, like, man,
01:48 I might've been through this before.
01:50 I don't know if I can go through this grueling task again.
01:52 It's when you see people have multiple ACL tears
01:54 and how bad you feel for them,
01:55 because it's not just a surgery, and you appear.
01:58 It's so hard to just get back onto the field
02:00 and feel like yourself again.
02:02 That's what the toughest part for Aaron Rodgers
02:03 is going to be from my angle, Ben.
