Birmingham's college students receive their results

  • last year
Today is a day of anticipation and hope - A Levels results day. Students nationwide have been anxiously waiting for this morning for several weeks. I'm here at Sutton Coldfield College, touching base with students to see if they've obtained the results they desired to securely advance to the subsequent phase.
Transcript
00:00 Yes, the students have obviously been really nervous about getting their results, but everybody's
00:04 been very excited. But we've had all the team here supporting the students, so huge thank
00:10 you to our staff and students for the great work that they've been doing.
00:15 The results appear to be in for many students already who came out today in hope of catapulting
00:20 themselves to the next stage of their educational journey. So, did they receive the results
00:25 they were expecting? And what's next for the students here?
00:32 Studied Distinction
00:36 Sorry How are you feeling right now and what does
00:42 the future hold? Very happy. I'm coming back here to teach
00:46 next year in acting, so hopefully a forward one. Sorry, I'm shaking. Yeah, very happy.
00:59 I got a distinction and that means I'm able to go to drama school. So I am going to performers
01:06 college in Birmingham still. So I'm moving out in three weeks to go there and I'm really
01:11 excited because Rahim is also going to performers. He was a late starter, so I've got one of
01:18 my best friends coming with me, so I'm really excited.
01:21 I got BBC. I'm OK with it. I wouldn't say I'm ecstatic, but I did well enough. And then
01:32 hopefully I'll go and study computer science. I've got a place at Coventry.
01:38 I got a merit merit pass. So that's really what I was aiming for. The original plan was
01:44 to go to university and that was all I needed to get in. So that wasn't a problem. But now
01:48 I've decided that I'm looking at more apprenticeship stuff and maybe just start and work for a
01:53 while. Yeah, I got the results I wanted with the distinction
01:56 in art and design. And my next step for my career is to finish off doing the course for
02:01 another year here at BMAT and then go on to university and study garden, landscaping,
02:08 architecture, and then hopefully become a garden architect designer.
02:12 So I've been thinking about doing a level four apprenticeship and I think I want to
02:16 do it in finance or maybe marketing. I'm not really sure right now, but I'm trying to decide
02:22 in like the next year. And I think when I grow up, I want to be in the financial industry,
02:29 maybe work in a bank or maybe even an investment banker as well.
02:33 Yeah. Today I got distinction star from my BTEC, which is like obviously the highest
02:41 I could have got. So I'm obviously really happy with that. In the future, I'm looking
02:46 at doing like more of the business side of travel, like working in like account management
02:50 and like the marketing should like different airlines. But yeah, just see what I can do
02:56 with what I've got and just hope that there's opportunities like that are out there that
03:01 I can go for.
