We speak to people in Birmingham
Transcript
00:00 Yeah, I think school doesn't really prepare children for real life because they're not
00:05 talking about real life experiences. I mean I've worked in the education system for over
00:09 15 years and I do find even when we get students coming to university, they're just not ready
00:15 for it. So if they're not ready for it, how are the youngsters going to be ready for it?
00:19 I mean it's great teaching them maths, English, all the science skills and all that kind of
00:22 thing but they should be talking more practical stuff around, you know, how to do cash flows,
00:28 how to run businesses, how to work with people.
00:31 Yes, in some ways but if you've got to give some of the trouble is to the parents. If
00:36 the parents don't prepare the children properly, you've got what the school's supposed to do.
00:40 I do think it's important that before they start school, they should read in. My son
00:47 always had books and I think reading, reading to your children and sort of taking them out
00:54 and telling them things, I think that's a good idea.
