00:03 We've got a little crossover episode for you today as we've got Celtics reporter Bobby Manning joining us.
00:08 Bobby, what were some of your big takeaways here at Patriots camp?
00:11 It's a slow start and everyone said it was. It just shows today. Not a ton of action. It flew by.
00:18 I like the secondary just like you. I'm excited to see a pretty good secondary from last year.
00:24 Add more firepower and Christian Gonzalez and I've heard all the hype about him. Saw it. He impressed me today.
00:30 The offense definitely has a long way to go as we saw and as we heard here today.
00:35 But I just want something to be excited about and
00:38 today didn't quite give it to me and
00:41 unfortunately a lot of that's still the offense.
00:44 We got to see this offense actually start to make some strides this year because that's what made this team so hard to watch last year.
00:50 Yeah, and we got a lot of headlines about the QB battle.
00:53 Jones, is it gonna be Zappi? Who do you think had the edge today?
00:57 I'm not a Zappi guy.
01:00 You got to roll with Mac. You got to give him the full season. He got hurt early last year and it was a big injury.
01:05 I don't know why he didn't get enough leeway for that, especially since he pushed so hard to come back
01:10 early from that injury. So I think it's gonna be good to get the full summer.
01:14 I think it's gonna be good for him to have that solidified standing after all the debate last year. Zappi looks fine.
01:20 He's a great backup. Like what he did last year stepping in while Mac couldn't play was awesome.
01:25 Then once things got a little divided there, I think it just kind of threw the season into a tailspin.
01:30 But I'm a Mac guy. This year is big for him, obviously. Contract and everything else.
01:35 Didn't have the best season last year, whatever excuse you want to use.
01:39 Maybe not that guy. Like he's still trying to live up to this Brady thing, which is almost impossible to do.
01:45 But overall, I think his career has been solid so far. Not the best start to camp, but again,
01:50 it's hard to take away anything from what we've seen so far. I literally couldn't have put it better myself.
01:54 I'm a little jealous of that answer. That was really, really good.
01:56 And then the last one we'll close on, Christian Gonzalez. First round pick. We all love him.
02:01 He's been doing really well so far in camp. He's let up some catches, which you expect from a rookie.
02:05 You know, he got some learning moments, but what did you see from him today? He's impressive. He's poised and he says he's behind.
02:10 It doesn't look like it, right? So he's catching up. He's, yeah.
02:15 It's awesome that they got him. And this team continues to hit defensively.
02:20 You can still tell his coaching staff's pretty advanced when it comes to the defensive side of the ball and even scouting those guys.
02:26 Duggar, still impressing me. We'll see what happens with his contract. But this defense is gonna be a monster.
02:31 I thought it was one of the better defenses in the league last year and it just killed me every week
02:34 watching that unit excel and the offense just fall into the dirt.

03:09 There's not firepower on that end. There's still questions with Mack.
03:13 And Bill O'Brien is a huge step up, but how good is he gonna be with some of the rankings people are throwing around from those Houston years?
03:18 I just hope this team is watchable. That's my biggest thing. Taylor, are they gonna be?
03:23 I think so. I believe in Bill O'Brien. I think that's gonna be the biggest catalyst.
03:27 Adrian Phillips was pretty modest yesterday saying we did some good things on defense last year.
03:31 As you said, I think they were one of the better units in the league.
03:34 I think they only got better, although obviously you take a bit of a step back in communication without Devin McCourty.
03:38 But they got a lot of veteran guys who I think could step up as well. Bobby, been fantastic. Thank you, brother.
03:43 Awesome. Let me throw you a lot real quick. What do you think of the Celtics?
03:46 Celtics? I like Jalen Brown. I'm still new to Boston, so I'm trying to get all my Boston Celtics out there.
03:53 So you're happy they kept them?
03:54 I'm very happy they kept them. I'm pretty sure that we may have a new player getting the biggest, what is it, Supermax deal ever on another Celtic.
04:01 But this year, I'm glad they got it locked down and they're keeping some of their core players.
