William Branham_ Word of Faith Movement

Kenneth Hagin is sometimes mistakenly credited as starting the “Word of Faith Movement”, which some refer to as the “Name It and Claim it Gospel”. Hagin, who worked closely with William Branham as a “Voice of Healing evangelist”, however, simply repeated the doctrines that Branham introduced into the Latter Rain version of Branham’s “Message” sect. And Branham appears to have copied his version from a combination of E. W. Kenyon and John Alexander Dowie.

Interestingly, as Hagin and others began to separate from Branham to spark what would later become “Word of Faith”, Branham began claiming to have a “Word of Faith” superior to theirs. Members of Branham’s cult of personality are trained to believe that while hunting, William Branham could speak the Word of Faith to create animals, such as squirrels, for the purpose of killing them.

Also interestingly, Hagin continued working with the Branham organization as late as 1984. Hagin was one of the officers of the “Ordinary People” company, what appears to be a shell corporation established in the State of Kentucky.
