Jayson Tatum was interviewed postgame following the Celtics’ 116-115 win vs the Portland Trailblazers. He reacted to Carmelo Anthony and Damian Lillard complimenting during his press conference.
“I was in middle school and high school when those guys were in the league,” said Tatum “I have the utmost respect for what those guys have accomplished.” Both Anthony and Lillard sung Tatum’s praises during their own press conferences postgame.
Tatum also spoke about teammate Marcus Smart. Smart has provided some great energy and leadership for the Celtics, and it has translated into winning in recent weeks. “We respect him,” said Tatum. “When Smart is talking you know we [are] going to listen.”
The two-time All-Star was also asked about how his recovery from COVID is progressing. He said that he now takes “an inhaler before the game” despite the fact that he’s “never taken an inhaler before. When asked about how long he’ll have to keep doing this he responded with, “there’s no exact time table.”
