A US missionary who traveled to a remote and protected island is believed to have been killed by the isolated Sentinelese tribe.

John Allen Chau, a U.S. missionary, who illegally traveled to a remote and protected North Sentinel Island off the coast of India is believed to have been killed by the isolated Sentinelese tribe that inhabits it, notes the BBC. India Today reports that 27-year-old found people willing to facilitate the journey, and they first ferried him to the area on November 15.  Though the man reportedly suffered arrow injuries on that trip and had his canoe smashed by tribespeople on the second one, he returned on the third day, notes CNN. Dependra Pathak, Director General of Police of the Andaman and Nicobar islands, told CNN, "He did not come back on the 17th; the fishermen later saw the tribespeople dragging his body around." The individuals who helped Chau access the island have been arrested.
