Former President Obama still appears to be a popular figure, with a crowd chanting to him, “four more years!”
According to CBS News, he took the stage Thursday to back New Jersey’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy.
Murphy had been part of the Obama administration as the U.S. ambassador to Germany.
Video shows Obama trying to bring attention back to Murphy after the cheer begins then saying, “I will refer you to both the Constitution--as well as to Michelle Obama--to explain why that will not happen.”
The former president left office in January with largely positive approval ratings for the eight years he served.
And in June, a Gallup poll found that, "Obama is viewed favorably by all major demographic groups, including men, women, whites, nonwhites and all age categories."
