Chinese Authorities Seize Liquor Laced With Viagra

An investigation is under way after thousands of bottles of liquor, apparently containing generic Viagra and Cialis, were discovered by inspectors at two distilleries in southern China.

Two Chinese distilleries are under investigation after apparently lacing their liquor with drugs that are usually prescribed for erectile dysfunction. 

Authorities in southern China claim to have discovered over 5,300 bottles of sildenafil-spiked spirits during a standard regulatory inspection. Sildenafil is the generic name for Viagra. 

The liquor in question is called baijiu. It’s popular; described as clear or white, strong, and more or less akin to vodka.
