Ecuador: Correa Supporters Taking Message to the Population

In their battle against the well-to-do right-wing opposition, supporters of Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa's Citizens Revolution are taking their message of social equality directly to the population. In response to often violent opposition protests against the proposed inheritance and capital gains taxes, Correa announced their temporary suspension, with the measures to be submitted to a three month national debate. The opposition and business associations have rejected the debate, demanding that the measures be permanently withdrawn. A major opposition rally is slated for 5pm today in Guayaquil.
