PLO Hails Vatican Recognition of Palestine

In several statements issued this morning, the Palestine Liberation Organization praised the Vatican's decision to recognize the State of Palestine. The Vatican's decision to recognize a Palestinian state in the pre-1967 borders comes on the heels of Pope Francis' decision to canonize two 19th century Palestinian nuns as modern day saints later this week. Across the Palestinian occupied territories and Gaza local leaders hailed the Vatican's move, expressing hope that it would be followed by other European countries.
