The British government has officially unveiled the country's first driverless car. The event took place in London and featured the vehicle called the LUTZ Pathfinder.

The pod-like car is part of the Autodrive consortium by Transport Systems Catapult, a UK non-profit funded substantially by the country’s Department of Transportation. The vehicle is relatively small with enough room to accommodate two people and some luggage but it does have some impressive technical aspects that help it get around.

The electric vehicle is controlled by a computer which rests behind the seats. The auto is also outfitted with 19 sensors or cameras for navigational purposes.

Each pod will have a range of 40 miles or a continuous drive time of 8 hours. The top speed is somewhere around the 15 mile per hour mark.
