Google's latest dog-like robot is rather unusual. It's called Spot and is the brainchild of the Google-owned company Boston Dynamics. Footage of it shows a crew member walking right up to Spot and delivering a swift, hard kick to its side.

Google's latest dog-like robot is rather unusual. It's called Spot and is the brainchild of the Google-owned company Boston Dynamics.

Footage of it shows a staffer walking right up to Spot and delivering a swift, hard kick to its side. The robot is incredibly agile, as it not only has the ability to endure a kick, but can quickly move away from a foot while staying upright.

Spot bears a resemblance to a dog due to its posture and four hydraulic legs. A sensor is located above the front legs, in a place where one would expect to see a head.

Spot can walk pretty steadily up and down hills and stairs, navigate through rough terrain and even jog alongside a fellow robot or human companion.
