MA Firefighters Rescue Man Playing Hockey On Ice

During this time of year, many police departments and fire officials warn about the potential dangers of frozen ponds and lakes. Firefighters in Hanover, Massachusetts recently issued a warning about just that and hours later they were involved in the rescue of a male who was playing hockey on the ice of a local pond.

Firefighters in Hanover, Massachusetts recently rescued a male who was playing hockey on the ice of a local pond.

The 19-year-old man had fallen through ice in the middle of the pond and reportedly placed his hockey stick in the sheet to keep at least a portion of his body above water. His friend called 911 to report the incident and request help.

Fortunately for the 19-year-old, Hanover’s fire chief was in close proximity to the pond and arrived on scene shortly after the call came in. Other rescuers soon reached the pond and used a specialized boat to get to the man, who was stuck about 150 feet from the shore.
