Over 100 Bodies Pulled Out Of India’s Holy River Ganges

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh say that in a span of only days over 100 bodies have been retrieved from the Ganges River.

The Ganges River in India is considered a sacred site, and as such is for many the preferred final resting place for the ashes of the departed.

Unfortunately, not all can afford cremations, and a number of full and sometimes badly burned corpses end up making their way into its flow.

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh say that in a span of only days over 100 bodies have been retrieved from the waterway.

The remains were first sighted near the banks of the state’s Unnao area.

Residents took notice of them when dogs and vultures began to gather.

Over a short time, more and more deceased began to appear, and their sudden emergence has been linked to the river’s receding waters.

As the number of sightings escalated authorities launched an investigation into the matter.
