Falcons Can Now Fly On Lufthansa

Falcons have the natural ability to fly on their own, but now they’re being offered the same in-air opportunity as humans thanks to German airline Lufthansa.

Falcons are able to fly on their own, but now they’re being offered the option to travel by plane thanks to the German airline Lufthansa.

The perk is actually limited to first-class passengers who choose to travel with their birds. It will be required that the falcon is secured to a specially designed tray called the ‘Falcon Master’.

In a statement, the airline notes “The Falcon Master ensures maximum hygienic protection of the cabin walls, seats and carpets from soiling by the birds.”

The sport of falconry is immensely popular in Middle Eastern regions. Other commercial airlines including Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Royal Jordanian Airlines currently have existing travel policies in place pertaining to the birds of prey.

The ‘Falcon Master’ is a kit that is reportedly easy to both assemble and take apart. It contains a bird perch and stainless steel surfaces, which help keep bird-related dirt and unsanitary matter away from plane seats.

According to a Lufthansa spokeswoman, the tray is still in the design phase and it will take an additional 6 to 9 months for the certification process.
