A handful of players for the St. Louis Rams showed their support for the protesters in Ferguson, Missouri during a nationally televised game on Sunday.

In response, the St. Louis Police Officers Association has issued a statement calling for the players who raised their hands to be punished by the NFL, and be forced to make a public apology for their actions.

Before coming out onto the field for their game against the Oakland Raiders, five Rams players stood with their hands raised in the “hands up, don’t shoot” position, a symbolic way of showing their solidarity with the protesters.

In the fourth quarter after completing a touchdown to make the score 45 to 0, two Rams players raised their hands again in the same gesture.
