The idea for an intelligent helmet has been a huge success. The SKULLY AR-1, which is referred to as The World's Smartest Motorcycle Helmet has set a world record for raising the most money on crowd funding site Indiegogo.

The minds behind the helmet initially set a monetary goal of 250 grand, but the campaign has now garnered well over 2 million dollars. The purpose of the helmet is to ensure riders stay focused on the road.

SKULLY Helmets founder and CEO Marcus Weller said the idea for the helmet was born following a motorcycle accident he was in. He explained “A few months later I had this dream that I was back on the motorcycle that day. But there was a really important difference.. I had GPS maps and they were floating out in front of me like a hologram.”

Weller realized in hindsight that if his eyes had been on the road the entire time, he could have avoided the collision.

The helmet is equipped with an ultra wide angle rear view camera, visual and audio GPS navigation, an anti-fog, anti-scratch and anti-glare visor along with a Smart Heads up Display System with infinite focus.

Those advancements eliminate things like blind spots and help motorcyclists maneuver through traffic without having to look at signs or take their eyes off of other moving vehicles and potential road hazards.
