A dog that plummeted about 200 feet off a cliff in Oregon not only survived the ordeal, but also sustained only minor injuries.

Michelle Simmons said she and Gracie, her one-year-old labradoodle, were hiking with a group in the Punchbowl Falls area.

Gracie was playing with another dog when she got too close to the edge of an embankment and toppled over it.

Simmons said she heard her beloved pet rolling down the slope, landing at the bottom, and letting out a single yelp.

It was assumed that Gracie had perished in the fall and those on the nature trek decided to hold an impromptu memorial service.

As they were about to leave, another hiker informed them that the dog was still alive.

Once the 10-person volunteer rescue team from the Oregon Humane Society arrived they began efforts to lift the dog back up.

One of the squad members was lowered to where Gracie was stranded. After outfitting her with a rescue harness, the two were pulled back to the top.

A visit to the vet confirmed that the full extent of the dog’s injuries were a few bruises and scratches.
