Buckingham Palace guards are supposed to keep a straight face at all times. However, a Grenadier Guard recently put on a dancing show for onlookers.

A witness recorded him busting out some moves, which included pirouetting, spinning and silly strutting. Tourists who got to see the rare sight were delighted and can be heard laughing in the background.

Once the video was posted to YouTube and the British Ministry of Defence got wind of the dance, the laughs died down. An investigation has since been launched to verify the authenticity of the recording and the identity of the guardsman.

A spokesperson commented “We are aware of the video. Anyone who is found to fall short of the army’s high standards can expect to face appropriate action.”

Even Andy Richards, who is responsible for sharing the footage online, had an idea the guard would probably get in trouble. Richard noted the bearskin’s senior officer might ‘have a chat’ with him after seeing the moves.

It’s believed the guard performed the stunt while the Queen was away.

Grenadier Guards are the ‘most senior infantry regiment' in the British Army.’ As part of their job, they’re required to patrol the palace property without providing any form of entertainment to tourists.
