Vice President Joe Biden turned on the charm for an elderly woman at the White House. The female who caught all his attention is a 108-year-old named Lucy Coffey.
She is the “nation's oldest living female veteran”. Lucy was in a wheelchair when she was pushed through the doors. Biden was the first one to cheerfully approach her.
He introduced himself then bent down to give her a kiss on the cheek. Coffey seemed to be delighted, judging by her big smile.
Biden sat with her and talked for a bit before Obama walked in, grabbed her hand and gave her a presidential command coin for her service. The president flattered her a bit by telling her he only gave the coin to his ‘good friends’.
The White House clan took a group photo with Coffey before Obama left. At that point, Biden was free to go back into full-on charm mode.
While sitting next to Coffey, he said “It reminds me of every time I had a good-looking date, there would be some better-looking guy coming along to dance with.. but I'm the guy that loves you.”
He then shared some stories about his mom and showed off a photo. Biden also told a tale about his pooch named ‘Champ’ before giving her a stuffed dog to keep.
Towards the end of their encounter, the undeniably smooth Biden told Coffey she’s a ‘special lady’ and kissed her on the hand.
