Most experts suggest that people should be getting between seven and nine hours of sleep every night to maintain a healthy sleep cycle.

But several sleep studies have narrowed that number down even further, and found that an average of around seven hours of sleep everyday might be the healthiest amount.

One of the studies, from the University of California, San Diego, found that study subjects who slept between 6 and a half, and 7 point 4 hours a night had lower mortality rates than people who got more or less sleep.

A survey from the National Sleep Foundation shows that the average amount of sleep people said they need to feel their best is seven hours and 13 minutes.

In another study, five healthy adults that were placed in archaic conditions for two months with no electricity or running water ended up getting an average of seven point two hours of sleep every night.

Of course, the amount of sleep people need varies depending on age and health.

Experts recommend that school age children get around ten hours of sleep a day, and teenagers should reportedly get between nine and ten hours.
