A police officer has been left injured in a suspected DUI case. It was a little after midnight in Missouri City, Texas, when Officer Kenneth Lewis and his partner pulled over a vehicle on Highway 6. Dash cam video shows what happened next.

Officer Lewis’s partner was standing outside the driver’s side of the vehicle to tell the motorist why they had been stopped. Officer Lewis remained on the passenger side, in between the vehicle and a concrete bridge railing.

Suddenly a vehicle can be heard screeching and the patrol car is knocked forward and headed towards Lewis. With nowhere else to go, he climbed over the bridge barricade.

Unfortunately he wasn’t able to maintain a steady grip on the railing and plummeted 20 to 30 feet to the ground. He was flown to the hospital where doctors concluded he had encountered a torn aorta and broken pelvic bone.

He survived the ordeal, but his condition was listed as serious after the incident. The driver that sent him jumping over the barricade has been identified as Christie Biggers, who works as a physical education teacher.

She has been accused of driving while intoxicated and according to her attorney, she’s devastated about what happened. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for Lewis to help his family pay for childcare and unforeseen expenses resulting from his injuries.
