Chihuahuas are adorable little dogs right? Well not according to some residents in a Phoenix neighborhood.

Stray Chihuahuas have essentially taken over Maryvale. Packs of the small dogs are roaming freely on the streets and they’re not exactly minding their own business.

Locals said the Chihuahuas are harassing children when they're heading to school. The pooches also seem to be recruiting other, bigger strays into their mischievous clan.

While the packs and numbers change, residents have reported seeing various groups of up to 12 of them gathering and roaming on the streets.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control spokesperson, Melissa Gable elaborated on the issue stating ‘We compared the number of calls we got in 2013 from that area to similar areas in town and the calls from Maryvale were three times higher.... Part of it is these animals aren’t spayed or neutered, so they’re out looking for a mate and are having babies, which also contributes to the problem.’

Local residents have been asked to safely contain the Chihuahuas in their yards if possible and call animal authorities, who will then spay and neuter the pooches for free.
