5 Michael Jackson fans hailing from France, Switzerland, and Belgium have been awarded a symbolic legal settlement of 1 euro each for the emotional damages they sustained when the singer passed.

The suit was filed against Jackson’s physician Conrad Murray, who has already served a jail sentence in connection with the Jackson’s death.

As evidence of the plaintiff’s suffering, the court was presented with documents from witnesses and medical professionals.

Even though it’s scant, the award amount is an acknowledgment of the emotional suffering the plaintiffs experienced after the death of the music legend.

It seems it’s the first time a court has given legal credence to the pain felt by fans after such a loss, particularly in a case like Jackson’s passing, which was surrounded by suspicious circumstances.

The acknowledgement itself appears to have satisfied the group, which is centered in France and calls itself the ‘Michael Jackson Community’. Their lawyer announced that they will not be seeking payment awarded them by the settlement.

They do, however, hope that their efforts will gain them access to Jackson’s Los Angeles gravesite, which at this time is closed to the public.
