What's your idea of a comfortable mode of transportation?

The soon-to-be Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka recently got a sampling of his future VIP major league status by traveling in style on a Boeing 787. Tanaka took a long flight from Japan to New York City.

He shelled out approximately 200 grand from his own pocket for the journey. When speaking with reporters, Tanaka said “It's a chartered private jet. It's not something the Yankees have prepared.”

The aircraft, which typically seats up to 200 passengers held Tanaka along with his wife and three others. Tanaka also took his toy Poodle on the flight.

Tanaka decided to charter the plane for his small party so he could attend his team’s camp in the ‘best of form’. Although the private charter is considered to be a hefty and unnecessary splurge by some sports fans, it seems Tanaka has plenty of excess cash to throw around.

He just recently signed his name on a $155 million deal with the Yankees.
