In South Korea, broadcasting one’s mealtimes is now a popular activity.

Typically, individuals load up their table with food, grab a fork, and start live streaming their dining experience via an online service.

Dinner hosts do it for a variety of reasons and take a lot of different approaches to how they go about sharing their meal.

Some treat it like a competition, proving in front of a live audience how much they can eat or how much spice their mouths and bodies can tolerate.

Others see it as an opportunity to get to know people and take live calls while trying to scarf down dinner.

One popular eater goes by the handle The Diva, and has made excess consumption her thing.

In the past she’s been known to eat thousands of calories over the course of several hours.

Since starting her broadcasts, she says she’s gained 20 pounds and amassed a monthly food bill of around 3 thousand dollars.

Who knows, she could make some of the money back. Viewers award videos they like with star balloons, which can be redeemed for real money.
