Stopping to check out a beautiful display or painting...it’s something we’ve all done. But depending on where the subject of the curiosity is, it may be a wise idea to just keep walking.

An utterly bizarre incident from 2011 is just now making reports. A man in Barcelona was fined for staring at a discarded painting. The artistic piece had been lying right next to a garbage container and the male was busted by police standing in front of it, simply admiring the artwork.

According to the unidentified man, while he was quietly looking at the picture, four cops surrounded him and punished him by issuing a hefty fine of approximately $122. The reason for the citation was because law enforcement believed he had rummaged through the trash, which is a violation of municipal by-laws, and placed the painting on the ground.

Barcelona's public defender vowed to fight the fine and claimed the police made no effort to find out the truth and automatically assumed the unidentified man rifled through the trash. She said he was merely looking at the art which had been left outside the container.

What do you think of the bizarre citation?
