A 33-year-old man from Rochester, Michigan was visiting someone in nearby Pontiac when the person’s pit bull bit off part of his tongue.

It was reported that the victim was trying to make friends with the dog. In his effort to do so, he put his face up to the canine’s and then stuck out his tongue.

It seems the dog didn’t find the move at all friendly, and snapped at the stunned guy, taking what’s been referred to as a “substantial” chunk of his tongue in the process.

At half past 11pm, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene.

After they arrived they discovered that this was the second time the dog had been involved in a biting incident in the last four months.

What they didn’t discover was the piece of the man’s tongue.

They guessed that the dog had likely swallowed it.

Medical treatment was sought for the man at a local hospital, and the Oakland County Animal Control department placed the dog under a 10-day quarantine while investigating further.
