Woman Files Complaint After Doctor Gives 'Ghetto Booty' Diagnosis
A woman has recently filed a complaint with the Tennessee Department of Health for an unusual reason. 55-year-old Terry Ragland claimed that a doctor allegedly diagnosed her with ghetto booty.

In April, she visited the doctor, complaining of severe lower back pain. Dr. Timothy Sweo reportedly told Ragland the pain was due to a ghetto booty.
Ragland spoke to an office manager about the incident and received an apology. Several weeks later she got a letter from the doctor which noted “I was trying to take a technical conversation regarding your lower back and make it less technical."
Although Sweo declined to be interviewed, he did admit to using the term ghetto booty to describe Ragland’s condition in which the spine is curved, causing the backside to protrude more. Ragland believes the term was racist and offensive, however the doctor disagrees.
The state is currently looking into the complaint and the Board of Medical Examiners officer will have the final decision regarding any disciplinary action that may be taken against the doctor.
