Many people have tried using body cleansing diets to rid themselves of harmful toxins, but experts say that there is no scientific evidence that cleanses actually work.
Some of them are expensive, and might even be harmful to your health, especially those lasting longer than a few days.
There are a variety of different cleanses, including a juice diet consisting of only fruit and vegetable puree, or water, lemon juice, cayenne peppers and agave.

A survey of a few hundred people found that 40 percent of them had used a body cleanse, and of those people, 61 percent reported that they felt better afterwards.

According to Doctor Roshini Raj from the NYU Langone Medical Center in New York: “Some of the cleanses are very extreme and they incorporate only very few ingredients in them, so you’re really limiting yourself in terms of not getting enough protein, potentially not enough fiber and even healthy fats that you need.”

Although using a body cleanse for a few days can help you lose weight, Doctor Raj says it’s mostly water weight and even in the short term, an unbalanced diet is not healthy.
