Nick Von Schirnding talks on Nat Rothschild and Bumi Plc

Bumi Plc’s CEO, Nick Von Schirnding, talks to CNBC regarding the “total mess” of Bumi today, stating that the mess was caused when Nat Rothschild brought the structure to the London market. Von Schirnding presents the solution to the company’s woes as separation from the Bakrie family and Bumi Resources and for all founding shareholders to step back.
New management has been brought in at Bereau and the current board propose focusing on this asset once they have stepped away from the troubled Bumi Resources. Von Shirnding claims that the alternative, under Nat Rothschild’s management, is prolonged infighting and resistance from the Bakrie family when it comes to the separation.
In an interesting turn of events, Von Schirnding disclosed that the two Directors Rothschild proposed to keep on the board have refused to work with him.
Nick Von Schirnding was named CEO of Bumi in December 2012 and was previously the head of investment and corporate affairs at Anglo American.
