Driver Claims Sneeze Caused Accident

A Massachusetts driver smashes a police cruiser and cites sneezing as an excuse.

Everyone knows drinking and driving is dangerous, but apparently, sneezing while operating a vehicle can be quite hazardous as well.

Recently, a woman driving a 2003 Buick Century crashed into the back of a State Police car.

She claimed that a sneeze caused her to momentarily lose control of her vehicle. The cruiser was stopped on Interstate 95 in Canton behind a disabled vehicle that had a flat tire, prior to the accident.

While the woman did not encounter any injuries, the trooper was taken to a local hospital as a safety measure. Both vehicles were removed from the scene.

Last year, sneezing while driving caused a serious crash.

According to Maryland State Police, a fatal car crash occurred when the driver of a van had a sneezing fit and lost control of the vehicle. The 30-year-old male passenger died during the wreck, while the driver, Brian Evans encountered broken ribs, but survived.

Evans was fined for reckless and negligent driving, but an allergist believes his allegations of sneezing could be true, stating “People with a bad case of nasal allergies can have sneezing fits that go on for minutes.”
