The New York City Police Officers recently had quite a surprise while conducting an unrelated search in Brooklyn.

Officials found two alligators, two bearded dragons, a tarantula, a scorpion and a gecko in a fifth floor public housing apartment. They also found five pythons, along with a boa constrictor. Animal control workers were then brought on the scene.

According to neighbors, the apartment resident also had several dogs in the unit that were rarely cleaned up after.

The housing authority only allows one cat or one dog and other small creatures like fish. The exotic pets were confiscated, but the owner was not arrested.

Nearly a decade ago, another New York City apartment was home to some bizarre animals.

An anonymous caller told police that a large animal was residing in a Harlem apartment, belonging to a man named, Antoine Yates. Officers arrived at the scene and found a tiger weighing more than 400 pounds and a 280 pound alligator living in the residence.
